N55 335is clutch kit part numbers
Hey all, I've got a 2011 335i N55 6MT and will be ordering the upgraded 335is clutch kit. I'm finding a couple of variances out there, one with bare essentials (clutch plate, disc and release set) and another with the arm, alignment tool, etc. I've been trying to cross reference the part numbers for the 335is clutch kit from Schaeffler/LUK and resellers but coming up short. Bard/Google, Bing/ChatGPT, parts desk chat bots, etc. Does anyone have any information on the differences and origins of the following?
The Shaeffler kit includes the following items:
While many of the reseller kits (6243584000) appears to include more (the arm, alignment tool, etc) Is there anyone that is familiar with the nuances here? The pressure plate and discs look different between pics too, but I know pics are often just representative placeholders, so part numbers are important. My thoughts are that going with the more complete kit (6243584000) would be ideal as I'm upgrading from 335i to 335is fitment and it comes with the alignment tool as well. Thanks in advance for any clarifications here. |

Following as this will be interesting & useful info to have when I need to change the clutch in mine. (2012 335i)
I've heard of people using the 550i clutch as an upgrade though |

This is everything I bought when doing the 335is/550i clutch upgrade. 1 x https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...uk-21207640733 1 x https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...uk-21207603248 1 x https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...in-21511223328 6 x https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...lt-11227520706 1 x https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...et-23000417164 The clutch alignment tool that was included with the clutch kit did not work out of the box, I had to shorten it. |

No I bought one but didnt replace, I did the clutch at 60k miles and it looked dry. I now have weeping at 92k miles, seeing oil at the bellhousing mating area but I think its my oil pan tbh. Higher mileage you might wanna relplace for peace of mind

I am an old timer with a 2011. Guys have suggested that unless your seal is leaking, leave it alone. Some have proactively replaced it, yes I considered it, but the end results may be a leak when there wasn't one. I didn't. I am running a Spec 2 + kit with 600 + at the flywheel.

xquatch what kit and parts did you end up ordering, and did they fit the N55?
I've picked my car up from the engine builders following it's reconditioning and driving today the clutch is slipping in 5th and 6th so will investigate the cause. But want to get an idea of what fits and prices etc too in case I have to go that route and replace things. |
