N55 F30 Catless Downpipe
I am trying to figure out the best sounding exhaust that isn't ridiculously expensive. I have watched/listened to so many soundclips and I can't seem to figure out what i'm wanting to do. I have seen and heard that the best way to really open things up and to get a great sound is simply to just go catless downpipe. My only concern is that if I do go catless, will I have to tune right off the bat with BM3 , will i need to have already gotten a cold air intake, will stock manual clutches be okay if i do end up going FBO stage 2, etc.

1. You dont need an intake for any tune
2. You can run catless DP without a tune but you will get a CEL, and if you've never smelled a catless car, be prepared for the fumes and smell. You also may not be able to pass emissions depending on your local requirements 3. Upgrade your IC and CP before tuning |

Perfect! I had an Audi I went catless with and no tune so Ill be okay with the CEL and thankfully my location doesn’t do emissions. But that’s good to know regarding intake and all of that. I’ve always been told stock intake is the best besides having a muffled turbo sound. Definitely planning on doing IC and CP soon. Will probably do my CP when I do down pipe

i have catless downpipe paired with the standard cat back exhaust, for the CEL question i installed the MHD stage 0 and just flag the "aftermarket downpipe" and no CEL or issue (now stage 1).
The sound is a little bit raspy with too content of high frequency and not drone effect even an 35600rpm, very confortable set up and on full throttle is very satisfying. For the perfect sound you have to upgrade only the axle back OEM muffler made by resonator chambers (works well at lower frequencies), because you need more low frequency tone you have to switch on absorptive type muffler.

I recommend the REMUS exhaust with a high flow or catless downpipe for the best sound.

mike@x-ph.com I mean more if like put the connections to the mid pipe and for the exhaust tips. I could be totally wrong but I could’ve sworn I saw it somewhere the other day.

the REMUS will easily connect to the stock midpipe using the clamps thats provided with the axle back. you do not need to do any modifications except cutting the stock midpipe which is fairly simple.
