Considering picking up a first gen Macan S 16-18MY to replace my G80, will be used as kids hauler and grocery getter. I am looking at one with 110K miles, wondering how’s the reliability. Plan to DIY for most part but I will have the dealer handle fluid change right away as there are no history of being changed.

I'm buying a CPO 2017 Macan GTS as a daily alongside the M2. CPO gives you 2 yr unlimited mileage warranty and extending it to 3 years is ~$2100. Worth checking out if a CPO one is within your budget if you're worried about reliability.

We bought a ‘20 new. I drove it for a year and then handed it over to my wife It’s her daily now and usually our favored road trip vehicle. She loves it and has no desire to trade it for anything else. Only 22k miles on it, but we’ve had zero issues with it.
Honestly an awesome all-rounder.

I had a 2017 Macan GTS for the first 40k miles of its life. Fantastic vehicle. I highly suggest finding an S with air suspension. IMHO, that makes the car. It was very reliable. Had a few issues, including needing a new pcm, but it was done under warranty. Expect sticker shock if you service at the $tealer. Swap out the intake filter with and put a Cobb tune onto the car and you’ll be smiling every time you are behind the wheel!!

Cargo space isn’t massive but is quite adequate. Rear seat space it tight. My kids middle/high school aged kids never enjoyed the back seats.

The weak points on the Gen 1 Macan S are typically PDK failure, timing cover oil leaks and water pump failure, these are all meant to be fixed for Gen 2 vehicles.

We have a 2021 Gen 2 Macan S that has had a couple of unexplained software issues that have not been diagnosed or recurred, such as an ECU fault indicating the hood was open, but the switches were fine, an ECU hard power off (fuse removal and reinsertion) fixed the problem, along with the engine shutting down for a second and the dash going blank, then everything restarting and operating correctly with no errors set. We have also had coil packs swapped and a new injector to rectify a misfire that caused limp mode twice. We also have harsh transmission shifting when cold, not sure if this is a problem or just normal PDK operation and sub-standard software, as no errors have been reported.

Overall an OK vehicle, decent for an SUV, but with only 17,000km on ours, it has been the most troublesome I’ve owned for at least 20 years.

I have a ‘21 Macan GTS. No issue other than topping off some oil. Was debating a M3 as the family car and the Macan won out. It is a great daily, I can’t say enough about it. Definitely have the characteristics of a 718 and 911, albeit much taller on regular roads.

I do have to say if you do an oil change or service at a Porsche dealership, prepare to be shocked, as I was. Much higher than expected. But that comes with the territory.
