What size lug bolts did you use w the 20mm . I’m about to put 20mm spacers all around all 4 due to my aftermarket wheel offset of 45 and wanna make sure it’s good and safe .

Couldnt say bud, they came with the spacers as a kit, but the apex summer wheels are going on very soon so i can measure them when they come off if you want.

BMW wheel bolts are M14 x 1.25 with a 24mm thread length.
So you need the same but with 44mm thread. You can go slightly longer by 2-3mm but not shorter.

I picked up a set of 45mm shanks . The rim is 19x8.5 w 45 offset so I used 15mm spacers rite now but I just ordered 20mm spacers as I think it needs a little more . The tires on the car here are 245/35/19 square but I think I’m gonna go 255/35/19 square ..

Steering feels great and light compared to the run flats but also cus I’m running ps4 tires now on the new wheels and they are lighter by almost 9lbs ea wheel .

Do the spacers actually bolt on, or just sit against the hub as you offer up the wheel and bolt that on (with longer bolts, naturally)?

And what about when you get new tires—do you have to watch over the installers to make sure they don't screw anything up?

The spacers sit on the hub ring that's on the hub. That's what essentially keeps them on and exactly in place.

The spacer kit comes with new longer bolt studs.

Any tire or automotive place will immediately see you have wheel spacers in place , and take off/put on wheels as they normally would.

It's not like an auto tech would remove a wheel , have one of the spacers fall off and roll away , and not realize it.

To even go a step further - you could let the shop know every time that you do have hub centric wheel spacers installed

I've never had to tell them they were on, but its pretty easy to have a look after they have finished and check

I would add a little to what VegasG42 said.

Wheels and spacers are prone to sticking to the hub. Spacers especially can be a ‘mare to take off *if* you haven’t prepped their fitment corerctly.

Always clean the hub surface /mating parts before fitting.
Add a thin smear of silicone grease (don’t use copper grease- it’s the wrong stuff for the purpose and metals despite what you will read on the internet) around the inside edge of the spacer NOT the faces of the spacer. Same for the wheel - hub edge not the face.

The parts should be easy to remove if you do this routinely.

and after 9 months the spacers just slipped off perfectly no sticking at all

I used regular old silver anti seize, worked fine, only had enough on thier to fill the imperfections on the surface. Also took them off for the winter.

Are you saying that you grease the mating surfaces of the spacer / hub rather than just the centre hub centric part? If so you are reducing the clamping force of the wheel to spacer, spacer to hub.

Anti seize is not a grease. Also it was a dry application of it, wipe it on and then off, fills all the imperfections of the surface of the spacer.

Rubber mallet, but since you don't live in a salt belt, doubt you'll have any issues. I had rust within the hub nut cavity after the 1st winter, only rust I have on the car. I now apply anti size there, grease didn't hold up, water does not appear to drain out of there, don't really see any drain slots on the back of the OEM wheel. Odd choice when they don't have a cap and no drains.
