BMW Performance Power Kit - installed?

Perhaps an idiot question but, when i open the bonnet i see the stickers saying "BMW Performance Power Kit - installed", do all 335i come with this or mine has been upgraded? (bought the car from first owner).

Does this mean i have 320 BHP instead of standard 306?

It has been added. 320 for you! They placed the sticker in mine after I added it.

Assuming they did not just steal the sticker..yes. Does your exhaust sound "burbly" between changes in the mid range? Standard spec you typically only year that sound when you ring it out before changes. The power kit adds more acoustics to the exhaust note. I assume you saw the post yesterday, that the kit likely adds more than the quoted 320HP.

How can you tell if this was added? I thought It depended on the year of the car. I heard that the 2010s have to most hp stock is this true?

The exhaust burble was limited to the n55 engine. N54's did not get the burble.

OP:
FYI, Original owner should have received an envelope containing a software key that was used by the tech to upgrade the software. Also PPK requires spark plug change at 45K.
If your in doubt, just drive a 335 without ppk. There is a noticeable difference when you take off from a standstill. With ppk, there is almost no turbo lag whereas 335 without ppk does have noticeable lag.

Every 335i calls for spark plug replacement at 45k.

I looked it up and you are correct sir. When I had the ppk installed in my car (I had 15K miles on it), the SA told me I would need a plug change at 45K. I guess he made it appear that non ppk has a longer interval.
That's what I get for not reading the book.

Interesting, will have to check the manual. When my PPK was installed, they gave me stickers saying spark plugs replaced at 50k miles. Hmmm...

It does sound burbly when going slow in 1st or 2nd gear sometimes, very nice sound.

This applies to the N54 only! The N55 can run longer...

I have the 335is, basically PPK and N54. My exhaust has burble in mid shift, and also TONS of burble on a downshift. Not sure because PPK or 335IS Exhaust.

I remember when BMW first offered the ppk for $599. At that time, the documentation stated exhaust burble was limited to n55.
I was shocked to see BMW currently shows a price of 1,249 (uninstalled) for the ppk. I would hope at that price, they added burble to the
n54.

I will say the original pricing of 599 was worth the extra performance with full warranty. However, at 1,249, I think BMW is smoking crack

You can get it for about $700 if you shop. You then need to spend about $300 for the install.

Mind you, the car should have come with that from the factory.

They had issues installing the PPK on my car so I was accepted as a return.
I bought a Cobb AP and couldn't be happier. I paid $600 shipped to my door.

Anybody know what the N55 boost is with the PPK?

The N54s do have the burble, unless thats a component of the performance exhaust with the ppk

I have the burble on my N54 in combo with my performance exhaust and it sounds much louder than the N55 burble - before adding the exhaust i had no burble or couldn't hear it. I love the burble!

Sorry for bumping such an old thread, but found it on google and it makes more sense than starting a new one.

For what it's worth, my N54 had a very slight burble in stock form. I've since had the PPK and PE exhaust fitted and it sounds amazing. The burble now sounds a bit more like a sink draining haha.

I was curious though, what is the reason for the burble/pop? I know there are several potential reasons but I wondered if anyone knew the specific one?

My guess is that it's running a fuel rich mix, since it's easy to code the injectors to squirt a bit too much fuel in for added effect. On the other hand, I was wondering if it's possible to get rid of the burble, if it means it's technically wasting fuel?

Ive noticed that when decelerating if I hold the throttle at say 2% open, it burbles constantly. I think it is a function of throttle position and rpm that produces the burble, all in the software.

Aha ok, I was playing around at the weekend. If you gently pat the gas pedal as you are coasting you can get a burble on demand

It really is the lightest of pats too lol
