I completed the BPC tune over the weekend and want to share my experience. I have a 328i sedan with manual transmission, K&N air filter, and n52 engine.
Here are my first impressions: - engine revs more freely and generally feels peppier - car feels much better when starting in first gear at low revs (engine used to hesitate and feel sluggish when engaging the clutch from a full stop) - definitely makes more power/torque through mid-range - overall feels very smooth and gives the car a little extra spring in its step Obviously I'm not talking about giant gains here, but it's that extra 5% that makes a difference. I also just bought a 3-stage intake manifold, so I will report back once I have that installed and re-tuned. Shout out to Bob and the guys at BPC for an excellent tune and great customer service. I also posted this quick DIY for loading the tune software on a Mac since I don't have access to a machine with Windows on it: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1343680 EDIT: I had a chance today for some WOT runs and man I love the way this engine pulls all the way through 7000rpm. The tune really does add power all the way through the red-line. EDIT 2: Installed my 3-stage intake manifold the other day and got an updated tune from BPC. I'm loving this engine more and more now. The toque and power from 3000rpm onwards is superb. I can't get enough of these pulls to 7000rpm. Really impressed with the manifold and BPC tune once again. OP thanks for sharing the info, it confirmed my decision to go with another tune from BMW, it supposed to make 300hp/300tq in stock setup and could be upped to 400hp with jb4/mhd for same money. The way I see it is why settle on 5% increase if you can get 100% increase - from 200hp to 400hp right? Please do share your experience with 3SI manifold |

If you do have a 335, then the 5% I'm talking about is completely irrelevant for you. The BPC tune for 335i engines will get you pretty big gains with stock setup. See here: https://bimmer-performance-center.my...nt=26440220225 |

Guys I'm not bashing 328s here. Look up my previous posts - I was actually going to install BPC stage 1 tune myself, I shared links about their web-store with pricing and options, but I was talked out of it by some forum members. After considering different options I decided to go from 328 to 335, especially nowadays when economically it's very feasible. So I was in same situation as OP and as many 328 owners. I'm just sharing my experience as 328 owner (still am as of now) and that's all. This is a forum after all and you dont' really expect only opinions that suit you right? However, if this topic is so sensitive I will just shut up and let you guys enjoy only your opinions and opinions that you want to hear even if that will be only one side of story

Even if it's not him, no one cares - Why would I buy a 335i to go fact when I could have a used Mustang, or a Camaro, or any number of other cars? |

Didn't read it that way but whatever. The whole argument is pointless really. Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races. If all this is about is 'teenage' hoonage then via con tacos, enchalidas y enchilados. Me? Doesn't compute, don't care.

P.S. about mustang/camaro etc. - dude, I love E9x platform for it's chassis and power (well not so much with 328, but still), so I am not even considering anything else right now except 335 simply because 335 is IMHO king on the streets right now. Besides have you driven a mustang? I have as a rental from airport. Uhhh...how to say to not offend Mustang fans. Well let's just put it this way: I would prefer a solid German family sport sedan that can smoke mustangs/camaros and still be enjoyable and luxury to drive as a DD. Again man, that's just my opinion Last edited by n55jb4; 01-19-2017 at 09:37 PM.. |
