Thank you for sharing your experiences. Holding off for the time being on putting anything on the screen, especially after some of the comments.

I also had an XPEL precut kit. Decided not to install it after doing a bit more research. PFF was designed for painted surfaces, not touchscreens. Who knows what damage the adhesive will do to the touchscreen down the years. There is also real risk of it delaminating the screen once you do remove it after a while.

I went ahead and ordered the 2 piece tempered glass screen protectors. Yes, it's glossy but I'll see how noticeable it is.
Easier to install for sure. And it will have an opposite effect on the screen. Everything now looks super sharp/crisp.

Looks like there is an HD and Anti-glare option. Which one did you get? TIA

If you still have that kit, I would love to talk with you about sending out a Screen ProTech kit so you can do a side by side comparison and maybe post about it on here!

If you're interested, shoot me a message!
Unfortunately I cut the XPEL ID8 screen precut into 2 and used it on my doorsills.

I just place an order with installation insurance. I'd like to get both the HD and anti-glare. I just PM'd you my order number.

I pulled the trigger on the HD and anti-glare screen protectors. I will let everyone know the pro and cons between the 2 and which I like better. I think it will come down to personal preference but stay tuned......

I’m going to install the anti-glare one first. Not sure how much blurrier it’ll get because our screens are already anti-glare. If it’s too blurry I’ll install the HD one and deal with the glare.

Would running a hair dryer over it on low heat draw out the moisture quicker?

Just installed the Screen ProTech anti-glare screen protector. It's a fairly straightforward install and quite easy if you put enough soapy solution spray on the film which allows you to position it perfectly and tack it down with the squeegee. No dust nibs at all. It does make the stock anti-glare screen a bit blurrier but not by much, however it drastically reduces fingerprints and does a better job at diffusing reflections compared to the stock screen. I'll see how it is in the daylight and report back.

Overall probably the best screen protector option out there for ID8 screens with real R&D and quality standards behind it which can't be said for cheaper Chinese kits.

Here are some of pictures of it installed. The last picture shows what it looks like with auto brightness at max (shined a light at the light sensor between both LCD panels).

Still looks like a very sharp image. Of course, as you mentioned, driving in varying lighting conditions will give the final results.

Here is the Screen Protech anti-glare screen protectors in the daytime. Not as crisp as the bare screen itself but overall not bad. Exceptionally good at reducing fingerprints and it does indeed diffuse glare more than without a screen.

Did you get the 3-Series version or 2-series? I do not see HD or anti-glare listed for the 2-series. The link above in an earlier post brings me to the 3-series option. Are the curved displays the same dimensions? Probably, right?

Since Coconut gave his excellent feedback on the matte screen protector I will share my thoughts on the HD kit. First of all, I ordered the “3 series iD8 kit” knowing it is the same display. The package arrived in this awesome non-generic packaging and complete with lint free cloth, spray bottle (with solution) and a scratch free rubber (not plastic) squeegee. As far as install, this wide screen display is probably the most difficult. But if you use enough solution and focus on centering it left to right then squeegee from the center to the outside, you should be fine. No need to rush. The solution makes the install very forgiving. Make sure it is centered before you begin to squeegee. Trying to squeegee up and down doesn’t work as well because of the curved surface. Having had plenty of experience with other electronic devices I knew I would probably prefer the HD version. I don’t mind the glare that comes with clear protection versus matte. It will be a personal preference. No wrong choice here. I have included both screen ON and OFF to show the bubble free install, the super high clarity and the amount of normal glare to expect. I will say that the material is awesome. During install, the surface resisted any possible scratches that often happens with cheaper materials. Very durable!

Full disclosure, I have no personal connection with this company but highly recommend it. The piece of mind that it offers me from other people touching it like my kids is worth every cent!!!

I've installed the one from aliexpress

1. It came as a set with roll-folded film with rounded corners, tiny bottle for soap solution, wool-ish fabric towel and a squeegee,

2. I started preparation by carefully cleaning the screen with kind of suede-like cleaning cloth that you sometimes get in glasses case. Microfiber cloth can still scratch iDrive screen unless you're 1000% sure that it is clean. any small speck of dust can scratch the screen, if pressed enough.

3. Next I have put towels underneath the screen to absorb all the excessive soap solution which will be used.

4. For soap solution I used a drop of Trader Joe's lavender soap, a drop of the foam tube exact. This soap doesn't have any color and mildly soapy. To sum up - there were no soapy traces or white foamy bubbles under the film through the process.

5. Next I started peeling off the sticker from protective layer and sprayed the solution underneath it. After I sprayed entire surface of the sticker I returned it rot protective layer. This will help easier separation of the sticker and prevent the dust from sticking to glue layer.

6. I affixed the right side of the sticker to the screen frame leaving 1 mm from the edge - that was correct calculation. Then I started to continuously separate the sticker from protective layer by squeeqeeing (does this word exist, lol?) it to the screen.

7. During the process the water was visible underneath the sticker - there's image showing slightly darker areas and traces underneath. But there's exactly what is needed as this will help to channel the water downwards and remove it entirely.

8. Finally, I removed all the water bubbles and because of part 5 - there were NO dust underneath the sticker.

9. Right side of the sticker had some bubbles that didn't want to disappear so I peeled of the sticker from the right side for about 10 inches, sprayed it with solution, cleaned small specks that probably came underneath at the very beginning during alignment of the sticker

10. Final results is fine - you have to come real close to see the film - it is quite well cut to the screen size.

11. I do see couple air pockets under the film on the touch screen size but it's absolutely invisible when the screen is on.

budget is $8.87

Glad if it will be useful. Also squeegeeing the film in place and aligned is oddly satisfying =)

Can I ask several months later how the Screen ProTech is going?
Still on, holding up, easy maintenance etc?

Yes, still on and really no issues. No maintenance really. I use a damp microfiber cloth to clean lint and finger prints. No scratches either. The piece of mind that it’s protecting the screen underneath is invaluable. I have zero anxiety using the screen as a result.
