dinan vs kw v1...
I have a 2011 335 xdrive with stock suspension. It's a nice ride but I'm really looking to stiffen the ride, reduce body roll and lower the car just a bit (nothing more than 1 inch tops).
I was really leaning towards going with the Dinan stage 2 setup.. I'm thinking it would be good enough of a positive change.. I'm just also looking at the kw v1's as an option. I would hardly ever change the ride height but I do like the performance gains from the coilovers. I've only read positives for both the Dinan stage 2 and kw v1's. I'm just trying to see if I would regret buying the Dinan Stage 2 package.. Just that if I get Dinan package installed and still do not like it I would kick myself in the butt. The Dinan package is actually cheaper too compared to the v1's (not that that's a huge deciding factor). thanks, Mike |

kw is great. just sayin.
adjustability is great. mine wasnt set at my preferred height at first (rear was just a little too low) and i changed it. rather than buying a new set i got the tool and it took 20 min. also, winter is coming! Isnt dinan becoming the dealership recommendation? just bumps up the price 3x or more.

I'm trying to find a better price on the KW Coilovers as my local shop has them for around 1600 (I use jscspeed.com as I can do local pick up even). I'm under warranty yet.. I'm guessing warranty isn't supported on suspension parts anyways. So going the Dinan route isn't buying me much for warranty support.. thanks, Mike |

i got mine for a few hundred less than that from TIAGO from VRSF, a member on this forum and makes a great downpipes for us XI cars as well for a really great price. contact him for final prices but i gotta be honest i got it for a steal! The price is really the only reason i got the coils before wheels or dps. and let me tell you, regardless of who you go with.... lowering your XI is hands down the best damn mod you can do. changes the whole car!

I have the KW-V1s for about four years now...25,000 miles and now problems/no regrets. The car is a completely different beast, especially with lightweight wheels (Apex ARC-8 (Front: 18x8.5 (18.45 lbs) 235/40R18 , Rear 18x9.5 (18.85 lbs) 265/35R18) and lighter non-runflat tires (Michelin Pilot SuperSport) saves about 10 lbs per corner of unsprung weight. That's a tremendous difference that I feel. I put dedicated winter tires on my heavy stock wheels for the 10 weeks of winter we have here in Philly. Huge, HUGE difference having lighter wheels....faster acceleration and braking too because of much less rotational inertia in the lighter wheels+tires. Good luck!

bmwauug, how would you describe the Dinan system over stock? Ride height, stiffness, overall feel?

well I got the KW v1's installed today and I'm pretty happy with them.. I just wish they were slightly cheaper as well as slightly cheaper to install, heh...
The turn-in speeds is very nice, not nearly as much throwing me around going over bumps.. Like I read other places I think this is how the 335 xdrive should have came from the dealer (or atleast include it in the sport package). I wish I could compare to the dinan setup but overall I have no regrets getting the KW v1's (so far, only 1 day). It doesn't feel like I'm floating around anymore either which is way nice. |
