E9x battery replacement
So the dealer mentioned that the battery on my E90 might be a bit weak & might need replacement. They mention that it'd be $500 if they have to replace it & program the car for it. WTF.
I've done a couple of searches & it seems that I might have to bite the bullet since it's still under CPO. I wouldn't want to deal with fighting BMW about it if I ever have any electronics issues & they decide to blame an aftermarket battery for them. |

was that 100 dollar battery used? or refurbished? I find that hard to believe, even the crap batteries from walmart and advanced autoparts are over 100( from what ive seen)
Edit: Im not trying to call you out or anything, I just haven't seen a battery worth putting in my car at that price and am curious. Last edited by xzibit a; 06-25-2014 at 08:13 AM.. |

If you're putting the same type/size of OE battery back in you can register it yourself for free with BMWLogger - might save you a few bucks.
Edit: just checked my maintenance log, and I paid $350 CAD for a new battery installed at a BMW dealer. |

BMW doesn't build their own batteries; most are sourced from Exide, Douglas, etc. and BMW just puts their sticker on it (much like every other part on our cars): http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...99&hg=61&fg=30 Since the place I buy my batteries from is an Exide dealer, they have access to OEM batteries as well. There's no voodoo going on here. At the end of the day these OEM batteries are just white Exide batteries with a BMW sticker placed on top. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want one, just drive down to MD and pick one up lol |

I think Tischer sells it for ~$200 if you buy it online. |

The Annapolis store usually has a couple in stock. Not sure about the other locations:

Battery Warehouse in Leesburg, VA has the Exide for $146.50 in stock.
This is for the 335 however, the 325 is a different battery and is even cheaper. He said Douglas is an Exide battery with a Douglas sticker on it. |

Thankfully it doesn't look like I need a new battery after all. The problem was that I just dont drive the car enough.
I might be put it up FS soon in case someone is looking for a super clean M Sport MT '09 E90 335i. 39k miles, CPO 'til 9/15, Space grey / black leather. One owner TX car all of its life until last year & it's never been driven through snow or salt. Thanks. Last edited by Motorama; 07-16-2014 at 10:21 PM.. |

well that escalated quickly. I was going to say, I bought a battery at sears for $150. I try to avoid the dealer at all costs, unless there is no cost.

so there are a few different amp ratings for each 3 series - ie depending on the options you had the battery from the factory could differ. rumor is that if you get the same amp battery that you wont have an issue if you dont "register" the battery. I purchased the battery from the dealer, the cable on amazon, and used BMWLogger which worked like a charm. again though, rumor is you dont actually need to register if you use the same exact battery.
