It is safe.
I have used it on my X3MC for a couple HPDE and on my 991.2 Carrera T on a few HPDE. No issues. And always on map 7.

Not sure what kind of data you are asking for, but Racechip has hundreds of thousands of users worldwide, i don't think I have ever heard of any failures.

I wasn't saying it in a bad way, I was just answering the question about it adding more torque down low. I never feel the need to go over 3k RPM while commuting, so the Racechip or like you said any OTS tune won't really feel different than stock while putting around town.

Well… commuting is 80% of my driving in MY vehicles, so that’d be a shame to rarely take advantage of a tuned S58.
I miss the torque curve of my old 135i - peak torque came on at 1,300rpm. That was a fun daily. Wish the S58 could meet in the middle and had peak torque hit a little earlier.

Not sure which 135 you have, but the N54 and N55 reached peak torque at 2500, not 1300.

Also, if you don't want your tune to affect daily commuting, the car would be jerky, and your mpg would go down the drain. You want your tune to work when you are going over a certain RPM

1,300? Was it a Duramax swap?

🤓

I just want to get to my first oil change before I slap a box on this car, It's really hard to resist, lol.

Life is short.
Just don’t full send it until the first oil change, you’ll feel the improvement already from normal driving.

I'm tempted, but the install looks like a pain. No way it's easily coming off if the car has to go in for dealership service. I wish they made something like a JB+ for the S58.

It has a bypass plug that you can use it instead of removing the whole harness.

So for anyone wondering I emailed RaceChip asking how much boost it’s adding and was told .3 bar which is 4.35 psi.

Amen to that brother.

Just purchased one thru RGsport. I had no intention to modify... 3 months into ownership and it begins.... Looking forward to the install and power gains.

Has anyone tried adding a couple gallons of E85 into their tank and also used the racechip tuning box to see if that adds a little more power?

There was a discussion on this within the G80 forum and sounded like 2 to 3 gallons mixed with your standard fuel maybe every other fill up netted some minor SOP performance. I may try it one day but it's not high on my list just because of not knowing the E content.
