So I just had a spec stage 2+ and the aluminum flywheel installed.

No this is not a "omg chatter sucks" thread. But if those who have aftermarket clutches could answer a few questions that would be awesome, because I'm still in my break in period and I hear so many horror stories of improper install ruining clutches.

So the chatter itself at idle doesn't bother me at all, usually I don't even notice it. However, I will get a vibrating feel both at low rpm's (under 2000) and when I let off the gas at speed but around 2000-3000 rpm it sometimes vibrates and makes the car almost shudder as it decelerates. If I downshift and let off again but say around 3500 it sounds like normal winding down.

Basically, is this normal? Or not? It doesn't bother me as long as it's not harming anything. The clutch feels awesome and the flywheel is phenomenal, it's so responsive and the turbos make boost so much faster. I just wanna make sure these sounds I'm hearing are normal for this equipment.

The shudder can be normal during break-in period. It should gradually disappear. If not, you may have to change your clutch habits. I've had to essentially learn to put more gas when on 1st.

I have a spec stage 3+ with steel flywheel and have the same vibration you have. I've had it since day one, now i have 2500 miles on this clutch setup. It doesn't really bother me. Keep the rpm higher

Shudder at take off and potentially some vibration due to gearbox chatter during low rpm acceleration is ok... although I don't really have "vibration". Should NOT have vibration during decel, engine braking.

Thanks for the responses, I have adjusted to driving with the rpm's higher, so it's vibrating less and whatnot. Break in was just passed and it's feeling better all the time.

I have the spec stage 2+ also. I love the feel and understand the change in shifting.
I'm wondering if you guys also hear a squeak when starting off in 1st gear? Almost sounds like a slipping between plates. I also notice it when I down shift.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

A few years ago I had a spec stage 2+ installed and had a vibration on decel, although it was more regular than you describe. Turns out Spec FORGOT to include a part, I think a pilot bearing, the mechanic just assumed he should reuse the oem part. Had to get the job redone when we figured it out.
