New speeding laws
Just wondering what everyone makes of the new speeding fines that are coming into place.
Just wondering how they will enforce the fine being a certain percentage of your wage, seems like it may be a bit difficult thing to work out especially for self employed people.

I was looking into it further and turns out the new guidelines only apply if court proceedings are instituted.
Even still you've got to laugh at the £2,500 cap on the fine ! So someone earning 50k a year will roughly get the same fine as someone earning 100k a week so to me this just defeats the whole purpose of a system like this where everyone is equally penalised.

New guidelines come into place today.
Just about every news article I have read fails to mention the part the it's only if court proceedings take place !

Yup i have been saying this from the start i have heard so many people saying you will get big fines from speeding etc but as you say it only applies if court proceedings take place so really nothing has changed.

They are quite happy for people to think that though, just another scare tactic that might make people think twice.
I Think the real reason for it though is to make it too big a risk for people going to court for speeding fines they feel are unjust and just to accept the fixed penalty
