Round 2 maintenance

Hey Guys.

I'm in the middle of round 2 maintenance, which should fix everything identified by BMW after I bought my car. I'm doing the front M3 control arms, Koni STR.T. Front and rear, and the oil pan gasket.

Round 1 was doing the walnut blasting, oil filter/cooler gaskets, pulleys and belt.

My little 1.5 jack wasn't giving me enough clearance so I went and grabbed one of my Dad's old jacks from the shop. I didn't even get it to max height on the jack.

I just thought I would share some pics

I got the subframe out. It really wasn't as horrible as I was thinking. I probably spent 10 minutes wondering why it wasn't dropping until I noticed there is another not under that little black skid plate in the front. One of my subframe bolts, the middle on the left side, was really corroded though. Anyone else have that issue?

How long did the subframe take to drop? Also curious about reinstall as I need to do my oil pan gasket and have been avoiding it for that reason.

It's about an 8-10 hour job

I keep braking the job up into different days, but so far I think I'm around 4 hours. If someone knew what they are doing and had all the tools standing by, I'm pretty sure someone could have it out in under 2 hours.

I keep wasting time to go get a another back, or finding an alternative to a 20mm socket.

Hey Guys, got everything done and buttoned up last week. Got an alignment right away because the m3 control arms really toe in the car. It's a completely different car now.

I found that one of the front struts was shot. I could push it in and it would come back out. Both of the from control arms bushings were torn, and the passenger side motor mount was shot.

I'm surprised how stiff the Koni STR.T shocks are though. If they are supposed to be the yellows at the softest setting then I can't imagine adjusting the yellows to be stiffer.
