baffle oil pan

I have read that our cars suffer from low oil pressure on high speed left turns. I have seen 2 companies that sell a baffled insert. Anyone use them? feedback?

I've heard that the VAC baffle actually makes the issue worse but I have no proof of this. I think the only true permanent solution is an accusump.

My car is getting its oil pan gasket done right now and I opted to replace the rod bearings while they're in there. Hoping that fresh bearings combined with the fact that I'm not very fast on a track will be adequate and I'm not too worried about it.

VAC baffle reduces how fast the oil is flowing back where the oil pick up is and also making the area smaller increasing the possibility to run the oil pump dry. Asbjorn has external pump. To me that’s better than Accusump. There is a good thread on the issue by bNks334

I spent alot of time testing different setups...

Its not so much high speed left handers, but more high-g left handers that are the issue, especially if trail-braking and using sticky tires.
Long hard braking zones are also a problem.

No baffles cure the problem.
An electric pump also does not cure the problem unfortunately.
The accusump is a plaster
The S55 is a solution. M-version of N55 should be good as well. They come with mechanical pumps that move the oil from the front back to the pick up.

Asbjorn how do you mean by accusump is a plaster? Also, as S55 you refer to the engine as a whole or the oil pump setup from the S55 ?

plaster as in it does not solve the root problem, but at least it is better than a baffle
by S55 i meant the entire engine... M version of N55 is also an option

No updates are required. The consensus is that oil pan baffles on n54 is useless and potentially more detrimental than no baffle.

Asbjorn are you still tracking your z4 n54? Now there is a product available that allows oil pressure to be logged via MHD.

its a bad pan design, the way the pickup sit theres no way to create an effective sump area. the currently baffles seem to do little and may hinder return flow if anything. custom pan enlargement with X wave break type baffle imo. for most its not an issue but i am always aware how hard i brake (downhill mexico), kinda sucks if u have a bbk

any consensus what is a safe overfill for an n54 on the track? I did ~200-300 ml extra so far
