M2 CSL

Does anyone know if there will be a M2 CSL. I was thinking of getting a Porsche 911 GTS but I would hold off if there was a CSL coming out in the future

If a CS or CSL is planned it probably will not arrive until the LCI happens, if it happens. Because of the push for EVs the G87 lifespan quite possibly could be shortened. Personally I would go for the GTS.

I haven’t seen any rumours about an M2 CSL but insider lemetier’s comment:

“ New M Carbon Racing Bucket Seats (for 2dr models without rear seats) will be introduced soon, starting with the M4 CSL”

indicates that more (hopefully street legal) track specials are in the works. You would think that an M2 version can be one of them whether it’s designated CSL or not. Buying a 911 in todays market is pretty nuts unless it’s some sort of financial investment move, To take a new car at today’s 911 ADM and run it hard on the track seems well, stupid IMO.

My ultimate car is a Porsche 911 turbo S, but in Australia that costs more than a house.
I am still hoping for a m2 CSL, I am first on the list at the dealers, it might off course never happen

I think it is too soon to call. Don't know why some are saying it won't happen. If it does happen it won't be until late 2024 at the earliest. 2023 is reserved for Base and Competition.

I am in no hurry, I have a Tesla model 3 performance which I have had for a year and I can say its the first car I haven't been bored with after a few weeks. My dream is the Porsche 911 turbo S which will never happen

I reckon if BMW make a M2 CSL it will look nicer than the M4CSL.
The M2 launch must be happening soon

Indeed, the next few weeks will see "leaks" with more and more info. Plus limited in-camo press teases that were supposedly done in May. Has anyone heard anything new about a September - October full reveal? I hope that is still the target.

My source recently stated that they have heard rumblings of a possible July reveal. It is anyone’s guess with only the brass hats at BMW NA & AG really knowing.

fark - october is leaving it real late given production starting december -but i guess they want to build anticipation given all of their releases for the year are done now, this and XM are the only things in the 2nd half of the year from memory (///M cars that is)

FYI, the G87 was originally supposed to be revealed during the celebration of the 50th anniversay of M. Originally it was to run a full calendar year. It will allegedly now conclude at the end of December 2022.

It's not a full year now? Do you have a news post highlighting this change? That's wild they shortened it

Sounds accurate, the M division was founded in May of 1972 and there's no reason why they can't celebrate their 50th anniversary for an entire year.

May 2022 - April 2023 = 1 full year

Now, if I could only figure out a way to do this for everyone of my birthdays...

50th anniversary celebration is during the calendar year of 2022. Knowledge is internal. It appears something has changed without an explanation. Like everything the dynamics have changed, “subject to change”
