People coping out of their mind thinking this looks like an E30 just because it has box flares, maybe the only thing in common besides also having 4 wheels

Having driven several e30 M3s, I'll agree that it's a riot to drive. Love it. You've got to really rev it, and it makes glorious mechanical sounds. I currently own an e36 M3, which is different but also fabulous. I've owned an e46 M3, e92 M3, F80 M3 in the past and now also have an F87 M2. All great cars.

But..... the S58 transforms the driving experience. It's eye popping (go take a test drive in an M3/4 or X3/4M and you'll see what I mean). In a small chassis, the G87 will be both nimble and incredibly fast.

So while I'd never turn down a drive in an e30, the G87 will be a whole different universe.

It's the latest, modern version of the ultimate driving machine.
i won't deny that the new cars and engines/tech/susp/brakes are a marvel to drive, but it's just not the same.

I have the one I want with 375hp and 2400lbs. Also have two other options to sling around 😎. The new crop of 'drivers cars' aren't the same as they used to be.

Love your setup, a sight for sore eyes every time I'm lucky enough to see your photos in a thread

Definitely polar opposites of the spectrum here from BMW.
The E30 M3 was a total flop in North America. People were upset because it had a four-cylinder. Way too expensive, too. The 325is looked like the much cooler car.

So let's wait 30-40 years before even discuss the timelessness of G87.
You expecting to keep your G87 for 40 years?

It will be like that famous 1987 Buick GNX that had 8 miles on the odometer.

Was that E30 butt the inspiration for the Bangle butt?

Nice photos of the E30 M3 and the G87 M2. This made me understand the missing side gills design decision. I was wondering why there was none on this car since BMW has been putting them on all M cars for a while now.

No - the raised deck and revised rear window angle on the e30 M3 were for aerodynamics at high speed to homogulate BMW's Group A race car.

Unlike recent M-cars, the e30 was actually a race car for the road.

The Bangle butt was also for aerodynamics.
