The tail light design still appears off to me. Anyhow it will be on my short list of possible replacement for the M340i at lease end. RWD only for me as well so by the time I am ready those should be available. Also, highly interested in the G87 but this could tide me over until that car debuts and the frenzy dies down.

Me: Bimmer Mexico pickup, let's explore the country, 500 mile road trip visiting the beautiful towns/villages, wrong turn wrong town NOW I'm in cartel central being put in a tub of acid because I took photos of the beautiful background and some smiling farmers 🔫 🌱

No tubs of acid around Neuschwanstein Castle, Allgau, Germany 🏰

Besides Cancun, Cabo and Puerto Vallarta Mexico is just in and out for delivery, it could never compare to the whole EU delivery experience, 1 word "autobahn" unrestricted speed

Notes: I've been to Mexico for work AND holiday over 25 times, as soon as your out of major areas it's a little sketchy to say the least

Taking advantage of pickup @ SC USA 🇺🇸 driving back up to Boston, stopping along the way for BBQ, DC and NYC

Have you seen/heard videos of a B58 equipped with FI Exhaust? If I was rollling a B58 I'd definitely go with FI over M-Sport. To me it's in the top 5 all-time of BMW sounds! Even B48 sounds amazing with FI.

Does anyone have data of lemon percentage based on what factory the cars are built from and by who?
It would be interesting to see what the lemon rate is for these cars built in Mexico by Mexicans

It looks good in Purple because it's a relatively dark color…..darker colors will look good on this because it hides the hideousness of the actual design with body lines that make zero sense….no flow what's so ever?

It's honestly a confusing car with the strange angles ect.

I know many people here don’t like the looks but I think it looks pretty good. It is a bit different from previous models though. Need to see it in person but I think the new chassis should be quite good compared to the last one that bumpy on the road due to short wheelbase. This should be less bumpy and more stable at high speeds now. Hopefully more quiet too.

From efficiency (lean) point of view, they should be dumb not to assemble the M car in the same factory. The difference between M and none M is isolated in a few parts and subassemblies (diff/axles/AT/engine/brakes/suspension) of which probably none requires a different assembly process.

After giving it a few weeks thought, I also think it looks rather good and adheres to the typical BMW looks.

I just wonder why the design team systematically releases controversial design elements (triangles in the front, droopy rear lights). It's like they are convinced that polarizing design equals to good design.

BMW made in Germany or nothing.

Side view looks great. The front becomes acceptable when the car is black or purple and the trim is black (shadowline). It's the rear and especially the tail lights I'm still not sold on. I'll reserve my final judgment until I see it in person.

The interior is nice. I'm not a fan of big screens and digital gauges, but everybody is doing it - resistance is futile...

With current levels of automation, it should be possible to equal the quality of German made cars. Only time will tell of course, but I hope for Mexico's sake that it is a success and at least BMW went for this rather than more production in China, of which there is a massive amount already.

We've had no issues with North American built BMWs since the plant in Greer, SC, opened. Most of our recent 3-series cars have come from the new Mexican plant with no issues and no way to tell them apart from the German-built cars beyond the obvious VIN differences.

The worst problem we've had with the BMWs from Mexico has been that it takes longer to get them to the USA East Coast than it takes to get cars from Leipzig, Germany. And tracking their shipping progress is more difficult. We just don't even speculate on arrival times anymore.

There is so much going on with new cars that I'm going to wait to see it in person. Also, the current M2 is completly different than the regular F22 so I'm also going to wait for that in person...though the spy shots of the from G87 bumper have me worried. Really don't like the M3/M4.

Quality control is not the issue. It's a matter of principle for some, including me. I won't buy a BMW made in Mexico. I have absolutely nothing against Mexico, and I know they can make a good BMW. Does not matter though. I want my premium German cars with their German price tag to be born in Germany. The BMW X being made in the USA is already pushing it for me, but I also can't be mad that they are creating jobs in my country. However, made in Mexico does nothing for me and only contributes a feeling of lost heritage and reduced brand mystique, both of which have been factors in my decision to pay double what I would otherwise need to for a set of wheels. Now, they still want me to pay double, but the product doesn't feel as special as it once did. Why would I consciously support this and spend my money on it? I just can't.
