[mm340i]

I have a 2023 M340i, and recently drove a 2023 M240i for a few days.
One thing that stood out to me was the turbo spool was audible in the 240, but I never noticed it in the 340. In general the engine bay seems less insulated in the 240.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Did both cars have that under hood insulation?

With VW GTI some gens came with and some came without. Removing the insulation certainly did make the turbo noises much more audible.

I'm pretty sure both have the insulation, since the M240i is a dealer loaner. I'll have to double check just in case.

Was just a thought. I haven't even looked to see if it can be removed. Or researched to see if there is a trend to which models / gens have it or not. VW cost cutting was getting pretty crazy for a while there.

Add a Dinan intake and you’ll hear a lot more turbo.

MST intake with turbo inlet is also obnoxiously loud
