N55 Blown Rod Bearings and Crank

So my 11' 335i N55 got the dreaded rod knock. I immediately stopped the car and towed it over to my indy who tore it down and diagnosed that the rod bearings blew and the crank was damaged too. He is recommending a used engine swap at this point and is quoting me $11-12k for the used engine/parts and labor.

Is that a reasonable price to swap out the engine with a used engine? It seems a bit high to me but I'm wondering what you guys think. Or would it make more sense to just replace the crank and rod bearings only?
