Got a call this morning from the dealership general manager who told me he had spoken with BMW North America and the delay is because they are waiting on a part. He was trying to find out what part is missing.

I'm inclined to believe what I was told this morning. I'm curious what part is missing, and more curious if BMW has any idea when they will get the part.

It does look like the only thing deleted from my build is the passenger seat lumbar and width. ACC, ZTK, satellite radio, wireless charging, etc. are still included. Most VIN lookups don't work, including trying to use the VIN to access the owner's manual from BMW's web site. A couple of weeks ago, the mdecoder.com web site started "finding" my VIN and that shows everything still being in the build, along with:

S48Z DEL.FR.PASS.LUMBAR SUPP./FR.PASS.BWA

I was told by my CA that the part is a radio module chip. Genius said we are at the mercy of when the part will arrive to VPC. 2 weeks... 8 weeks..?

A few reasons why I said February. 1. There are multiple status to reach prior to getting to port which could be a few weeks. It will take at least a week to travel by boat, another week in the vehicle production center plus a few days minimum to travel by truck to dealer. So, there is approximately 6 weeks there. I'ts already week 52 and no signs moving from quality check. So at best first week of February or mid February. 2. I have no faith nor confidence from the little information provided by BMW Genius Agent and BMW CA as to why its stuck in quality check for 6 weeks and no signs of movement. 3. Reading some of these post it looks like 4-5 month build time.

This is interesting news to hear. Curious if this applies only to vehicles at the VPC or if it applies to vehicles stuck in Quality Check.

My M240 entered quality check Dec 17 and surprisingly today Dec 20 entered final assembly stage. So hopefully no issue w/missing features on my vehicle

My vehicle is still in Mexico , but was told by the Genius that the work order (for the radius module) will be completed at VPC since it's quicker to get the part to VPC than to the factory. I'm betting your car is probably out of Quality check , but the status hasn't updated. Mine has been in "final assembly " for 2 weeks, but I was told it's just waiting to be transported to the port to come to the US.

Don't expect any parts to arrive quickly at the VPC either. These are truly bizarre times!

First positive news I've heard so far. Thank you.

I originally was scheduled for week 2 of 2022. However, today my car went into production. Thats 3 weeks early. Seems like production times are all over the board and a total crap shoot.

How accurate is the MDECODER.COM and where does this information come from ?; they say my ordered vehicle does not have Apple Car Play or Android for that matter but the info on the tracker and my build sheet says it does with no mention of it being deleted; is this the reason for the hold up of cars in Quality Control ???

I suspect Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included in the "BMW US RADIO" and wouldn't necessarily be listed as an installed option…but I'm guessing. The BMW car tracker shows my car with them but they aren't listed on MDECODER either.

Still have an open January build if anyone is interested. Not an 047, a production slot.

My car was still in "quality check" this morning (where it's been for 6 weeks). Called the Genius line to have them tell me that the status hadn't changed, and after making it through the phone tree got "we're closed for the holidays". Logged back in about an hour ago and the status had changed to "final assembly", so maybe BMW got the part(s) they were waiting on, or at least are doing something.

My status is the same as it's been since 11/12, but this is encouraging.

Placed my order yesterday for an M240 as some allocations opened.

Was told that delivery would probably not be until April

I just put in an order today. Active Cruise Control confirmed. This will be my first BMW and I'm coming from a Mercedes A220, so the M240i will be a tad faster.

Woo hoo! Got in touch with a genius today and found out my new ride is heading my way on Glovis Cosmos and is expected to dock in Baltimore on 1/8! Add a few days for processing at the VPC, timing may be perfect for my return from a business trip (provided all goes smoothly...)

That's super exciting, congrats! I was hoping mine would be on that vessel, but alas the wait continues. Glovis Cosmos ports in Brunswick and my port is Galveston. Womp.
