189 Days / 6 Months and 8 Days

That's the time it took from order to delivery: January 21 - July 29

Nothing new I can say about car that you haven't already heard or watched; it's an amazing piece of machinery.

My son asked if I'm disappointed I didn't wait for the M2 and I told him even if the M2 was the same price I'd likely still go for the M240i; I have no desire to track the car and the M240i is unquestionably better tuned for public streets. On that note the salesman said if I wanted the new M2 it would likely be a 2 year wait once orders open up, and this is coming from one of the larger BMW dealerships in the country (Sewell BMW of Grapevine).

Originally I had the new VW Golf R on order and canceled it after 100% of every review included a bashing of the infotainment. That led to looking at other options and that's when I discovered the new M240i. Now I just wish it wasn't 108 degrees outside as I'd love to go sit in a parking lot with the windows down and figure out all the settings. Definitely a large learning curve from my 21 year-old GMC truck.

Hopefully many good miles ahead...

Beautiful ride. Enjoy in good health. It's worth the wait. I have both the MKVIII Golf R and the G42 M240. My wife loves the R and I love the M240. The B58 engine is a real gem.

I’m not the biggest Brooklyn Grey fan but it certainly looks fantastic there.

Now debadge that Sewell badge and drop the license plate frame!

I'm on it! LOL

(they're such an amazing dealership I'd actually be ok leaving it - be sure to ask for Grayson Adams if you visit)

How does your wife like the R's infotainment compared to the M240i?

She doesn't mind it. Admittedly it takes some getting used to. We both came from R32s (mine a MKIV, hers a MKV)

Thanks for posting and glad you finally took delivery. Your build looks very similar to mine. I also had the golf r on my radar but it was a no go with the infotainment setup. Can't beat the G42, best bang for your buck.

Ordered 4/4 and been in Final Assembly for 1 month and praying for a miracle.

I noticed there can be significant delays on the My Garage status updates. Will you be getting the iDrive 7 or 8?

I was originally looking at the MK8 R but the local dealership wanted 8k over MSRP. ironically, I bought my M240i at the sister dealership (same owner) for 1k under MSRP.

I am contemplating buying the 50yr emblems too, they don't look as bad as I thought. it would probably look pretty good on white

I wouldn't mind a few days of delay, but most do not sit in Final Assembly this long, from what I've seen most see this status for a few days. I have a feeling there's some sort of part shortage, maybe the ZTK red calipers or wheels.

It's a MY22 with ID7. Fully loaded except no ACC, no M door cards, no 50 year emblems, no wireless charging. Brooklyn gray with red interior.

the 50yr emblem is so clean as hell..in this day and age, simplicity is extremely hard to execute; and the bmw designers nailed it.

To each his own, I personally think the regular ones look cleaner, with the outside chrome blacked out.

Nice

Your BG is the best looking one I've seen. I would take it, but since I have to wait 5-6 months I am going with the purple. Very nice looking car and I know it drives Like a gem.

Keep us updated with your impressions ect...You have one..... most of us don't.

It looks awesome! I ordered mine January 15th, originally supposed to arrive mid June, it was put back due to ID8, supposed to be end of September, I checked up on the build last week and found out it’s been put back (along with the dealers other M240’s) to a November build, hopefully arriving next January

I’m now seriously contemplating cancelling, but can’t decide what to go for

Can't believe there are people paying over MSRP on the Golf R's, putting the price in the ballpark of these cars. And of course when I mentioned on the VW forum I was bailing and switching to this they all thought I was insane.

White may be the best color for these emblems! I'm very happy I added them to the order. Sorta wish it was the same emblem on the steering wheel, but no biggie.

I show on my Google calendar Final Assembly went from May 27 to June 16. It could be a few days off if I failed to check the status every day.

ZTK has specific wheels, not calipers - just a FYI.

Just took a 2 hour trip to get donuts. That should tell you something about what you're in for.

Your post comes as I reached the 6 month mark owning this amazing vehicle Thursday. Fortunately I only had to wait a little over 2 months for it.

Congrats !! looks sweet. Enjoy !! Worth the wait

I started reading your post and thought "WTH?", then saw you're across the pond. Your wait really sucks, and I thought mine was bad. While driving around I've also thought to myself what I would get if this car didn't exist and I honestly do not know. Maybe the Golf R? Other than the complaints with the infotainment, which is a buttonless style lots of new cars are going to (including this car), I hear it's a great driver's car.
