I'll occasionally add new pics to this thread for those considering Brooklyn Grey or the ZTK package. It's so hot and humid here right now I'm not wanting to mess with going out with the Nikon, so right now it's just iPhone pics.

The BlendMount for the Uniden R8 was a super easy install. I have the hardwire taps on standby so a curly cord isn't hanging down, just need to figure out how to remove the plastic housing forward of the mirror without breaking it.

get a plastic trim tool and start prying the center apart. I started with the bottom, then went to the top. then I just pulled it apart by hand. it is kinda tight and you might feel like you'll break it, but it will snap out of place.

I slid the mirror down and off to have an easier time tapping the wires. keep in mind that the radar detector will still be on after you turn off your car (for 6 minutes AFTER the dash turns off) and will reboot every time you open your door, or any action that will trigger the mirror/dome lights to power on. kind of annoying... my work around is to long-press the mute button for 3 seconds to turn the dash off, then I manually turn off my detector every time I turn off my car.

Is the plastic housing attached to the windshield in any way, or just snapped together in the middle?

the two pieces each have a nub that attaches to the rear view window mount on the side, then the two pieces attach to each other in the center. break the center attachments apart then it's just the single nub on each piece that go to the mirror mount. that's the hardest one to get out. and if you do break it, it's only like $20 for the shroud

Installing the 13mm spacers on all four and I previously told someone I'd measure the front caliper with the ZTK package as there's been some debate on whether they're bigger than the non-ZTK package (hope he sees this). I provided a couple of pics with slight angle changes to better show relationship between caliper and tape measure.

Looks to be roughly 14". Anyone have a measurement for the non-ZTK?

Spacer install on ZTK Package:

Went with 13mm on all corners as I wanted to keep the footprint proportionately the same as factory. Car now has a 26mm (1") wider stance.

Word of caution for those working on a car for the first time w/o wheel studs (vs. lug bolts as on BMW).

When you remove that last lug bolt the wheel DROPS! Maybe it has something to do with gravity, but not sure? And when it drops it hits your caliper! And if there's an inside wheel weight that just happens to be directly over your caliper, the wheel doesn't have to fall far for the weight to hit the caliper and scratch it. Fortunately, it was a small scratch and very difficult to see once the wheel is back on.

The solution is to use a wheel pin, which is supplied free from Burger Motorsports when you buy spacers. I'd recommend buying a second wheel pin as it helps the spacer and/or wheel from rotating when installing the lug bolts. When pulling off the wheel, pull STRAIGHT BACK and don't let gravity have the last laugh.

Sorry to bore the German car pros with old news, but coming from American and Japanese cars this was new to me.

Hurray lol! I know you have been waiting.

Interesting measurements. The order guide in Canada specifically says 374 mm (14.72") front for ZTK and 348 mm (13.70") non-ZTK.

So what are these?

Never mind… that is rotors. You are looking for calipers. Doh!

Rear stance with 13mm spacers. Wouldn't think 0.5" would make much difference on each side, but really toughened it up in the back.

Thanks!

Probably not. I liked mud flaps on my STi, but not feeling it on a BMW.

I don't like how they look either, (even on Subies, I have a BRZ) but like the idea of protecting the paint on the rear hips...she's a little thicc

Interesting comparison on the Michelin PS4S tires in regards to the BMW-spec'd tire vs. the standard Michelin spec. This is for the rear tires with the ZTK package: 255/35-19. I suspect it will be similar differences for the fronts.

Of note is the slightly deeper tread on the non-BMW spec, as well as being 0.5" wider. What's odd is why does the standard spec have more rubber, but it weighs the same as the BMW spec?

Someone posted a really interesting video about the ps4s "star" BMW tires and the differences:
