The 230i is an inherently better value than the M240i, sorry. It also helps that I don't drive like a little beach like a lot of people with nicer cars.
It’s a use-case scenario. Those who plan to use it on a road track may prefer the 230, for a daily, the 240 is ideal.

To me a daily is about affordability/usability. Nothing from BMW beats the 230i in that regard.

There's a reason a bunch of reviews came out claiming they'd rather have the 230 over the 240.

Yeah the weight is really fucking the 240 over unless you do some pretty heavy weight reduction but then that’s reducing the daily comfort.

Yup the 240 is a boat compared to the 230 but MPR still thinks it's amazing

Well yeah, from that perspective the 230 is the best/cheapest option in BMW’s lineup. Though if I personally wanted a track car I’d hunt down another S2000 or something…the 230 is still heavy.

Again, it’s about the use case. I have not heard anything but positive feedback from those the daily a 240, or the B58 in general. Nobody is saying “man I wish I got the 230 instead”

I would buy one all over again, though I’ll likely go G80 in 3-4 years.

I’ve said it many times, this is my daily driver…supermarket, back and forth to work, errands. I’m not drifting on the track, y0h.

People try to eliminate the middle man for a reason (240 being the middle man between a nice cheap 230 and a true M car).

I have zero desire for the M2. First of all, it looks like blocky garbage... at least the F87 looked much better than the F22. Second, it gets terrible mpg, just an inefficient motor with extra power you can barely ever leverage. Third, it does not have AWD, which is quite valuable if you live where it snows/rains a lot. Fourth, none of the colors are exciting (and you can't even get Tacora red). Finally, unless you're tracking it all the time, the suspension can be rough on a daily basis.

There's a lot of folks that want the speed & efficiency of a B58, but not the S58 or entry level B48. To me it's the perfect balance (and blows away the ITS which I was previously fixated on).

You spent 16k more than me for an inferior car for that use

Not trying to be a buttocks, but you're trying to claim the 240 is a better value which simply isn't true. Either go cheap (230i) or go M2.

Yup, and would do it all over again.

For the amount of power and daily driving enjoyment, the 240 > 230. We have different mindsets and use cases so we will never land on the same page in this “argument”. Enjoy your 230.

I would have bought a golf r over a 230 if money was an issue. Lighter than a 230, faster, dual clutch or because you are a purist obviously a 6 speed.

You're acting like a poor person and your name is from a song by a rapper trying to be a baller. The irony isn't lost.

Golf R is more expensive? I came from a Mk 7.5 GTI so not sure what you're trying to convey here.

Sorry you guys can't come to grips that the cheaper 230i is a better car overall than your boat anchor M240s.

Yeah I dont know havent seen any lightning laps on the 230. A golf r is on par or 1k more than you spent on your 230. The weight difference is close to 300lbs the difference from a 230 to an awd 240. I wonder what your idea of a lot of money is because to me 60k for a car is fairly cheap.

Lol, yeah we are all the wrong ones, we all made a mistake and should sell our 240’s and buy the better car, a 230.

Why don’t you start a poll so we can get hard facts versus your owner-biased opinion on the 230.

1. Own a 240 and am happy
2. Own a 240 but wish I bought a 230

Better value is out of the question, because we bought BMW’s to begin with. Cost concious people will buy a Rav-4 and drive it for 200K miles.

That would be a great poll if you included the 15k+ in savings taking the 230 on option 2. Seems like a no brainer.

2. Own a 240 but wish I bought a 230 + 15k+ in cash money

Nobody but you is losing sleep over the $15K.

Add this one to the poll:
3. I bought a 230 because I couldn’t afford a 240

Ya the new Golf R is looking even more tempting with better headlights and infotainment.

The 230i is in a much more saturated category. If you really want light weight and better handling, you have the GR86 or Miata as an option. The ITS and S3/4 offer more space and similar performance too.

These really no competition for the M240i as its the sole option in the segment. Supra/Z don't have a rear seat, so those don't count. The Mercedes C43 coupe is dead. The RS3 is way pricier and in a boring sedan shape. Legit no competition in 2024.

If you guys don't care about money like that you should be buying Porsche. Not my fault I want to save money buying a completely competent car rather than buying a boat.

Nobody looking for a “competent car” is intentionally hunting down a 230. It’s the car someone buys when they are looking for a 240/340 and find out what the OTD price is…the salesman then says “well I have that 230 over there in the color you like”.

Your only argument is curb weight, which has been discussed/complained about a billion times.

Here's a question - if you think 60k is cheap for a car why in the hell did you settle for a 240 rather than an M2 which is only 75-80k fully optioned? Seems like you're talking out of your backside, sorry dude.

You settled for the mid level even though you claim to have cash, not a good look
