To me a daily is about affordability/usability. Nothing from BMW beats the 230i in that regard.
There's a reason a bunch of reviews came out claiming they'd rather have the 230 over the 240. |

Yeah the weight is really fucking the 240 over unless you do some pretty heavy weight reduction but then that’s reducing the daily comfort.

Again, it’s about the use case. I have not heard anything but positive feedback from those the daily a 240, or the B58 in general. Nobody is saying “man I wish I got the 230 instead” I would buy one all over again, though I’ll likely go G80 in 3-4 years. |

I have zero desire for the M2. First of all, it looks like blocky garbage... at least the F87 looked much better than the F22. Second, it gets terrible mpg, just an inefficient motor with extra power you can barely ever leverage. Third, it does not have AWD, which is quite valuable if you live where it snows/rains a lot. Fourth, none of the colors are exciting (and you can't even get Tacora red). Finally, unless you're tracking it all the time, the suspension can be rough on a daily basis. There's a lot of folks that want the speed & efficiency of a B58, but not the S58 or entry level B48. To me it's the perfect balance (and blows away the ITS which I was previously fixated on). |

Not trying to be a buttocks, but you're trying to claim the 240 is a better value which simply isn't true. Either go cheap (230i) or go M2. |

For the amount of power and daily driving enjoyment, the 240 > 230. We have different mindsets and use cases so we will never land on the same page in this “argument”. Enjoy your 230. |

I would have bought a golf r over a 230 if money was an issue. Lighter than a 230, faster, dual clutch or because you are a purist obviously a 6 speed.

Golf R is more expensive? I came from a Mk 7.5 GTI so not sure what you're trying to convey here.
Sorry you guys can't come to grips that the cheaper 230i is a better car overall than your boat anchor M240s. |

Yeah I dont know havent seen any lightning laps on the 230. A golf r is on par or 1k more than you spent on your 230. The weight difference is close to 300lbs the difference from a 230 to an awd 240. I wonder what your idea of a lot of money is because to me 60k for a car is fairly cheap.

Why don’t you start a poll so we can get hard facts versus your owner-biased opinion on the 230. 1. Own a 240 and am happy 2. Own a 240 but wish I bought a 230 Better value is out of the question, because we bought BMW’s to begin with. Cost concious people will buy a Rav-4 and drive it for 200K miles. |

That would be a great poll if you included the 15k+ in savings taking the 230 on option 2. Seems like a no brainer. 2. Own a 240 but wish I bought a 230 + 15k+ in cash money |

Add this one to the poll: 3. I bought a 230 because I couldn’t afford a 240 |

The 230i is in a much more saturated category. If you really want light weight and better handling, you have the GR86 or Miata as an option. The ITS and S3/4 offer more space and similar performance too. These really no competition for the M240i as its the sole option in the segment. Supra/Z don't have a rear seat, so those don't count. The Mercedes C43 coupe is dead. The RS3 is way pricier and in a boring sedan shape. Legit no competition in 2024. |

If you guys don't care about money like that you should be buying Porsche. Not my fault I want to save money buying a completely competent car rather than buying a boat.
