Secondary cat delete?
Hello everyone,
I recently got a 2010 335xi sedan and I am loving it. I am under warranty and CPO and all that good stuff so I want to do two simple mods on the car for the TIME BEING. I also come from a B8 A4 so this car is fast enough for me already. I am looking to get a bit more "sound" from my exhaust, I was thinking of doing the secondary cat delete. I have heard the muffler delete in person and while I like it, its a bit loud for me. I have the golf tee mod done and its pretty loud at cold start, I was hoping with the cat delete I will get a bit more gurgle and pop. The second thing I want to do is DCI from BMS. No tune yet but I am mainly doing for the sound. I was wondering if these things will cause me any issue if I go in for service? And reinstalling the secondary cat delete in the future is that possible or once its off its off? Sorry for the noob questions I am sure you guys get tired of seeing these but I am a noob. |

If you are thinking of going with catless downpipes later on you'll definitely want to keep the secondary cats in. Removing them gets you minimal sound and power gains.

I removed the secondary cats on my e90. It didn't do all that much but gave it a little more sound. It was perfect for what I was looking for. Eventually I got catless downpipes with the stock exhaust and the sound is perfect. The car sounds pretty much stock at cruising speeds but when stepped on it has a little more punch.

Changing your mids can definitely alter the sound. Look at getting some wider mids such as the 2.5" berk, maddad, or CP-E. N55 mids will not make much difference but those 3 definitely will.

Catless downpipes are on the list but not for another 2 years. In the time being I want to delete secondary cat for a nice "throatier" exhaust. Don't care for performance gains atm.

Don't make the mistake of removing the secondary cats. You'll get the sound you're looking for by just putting Down Pipes on your car. Doing secondary delete will also get you drone and possible a car that smokes really bad depending on how bad your turbos are worn. If you want more sound after, remove your resonators. I have an e92 and we don't have them like the e90.

Is the throttle response noticable?
