330d remap & manual gearbox
Very tempted by the DMS tweak to the 330d engine. The only concern I have is that I have the 6sp manual and am a bit concerned about how the gearbox will handle all that extra torque. Evidently the reason BMW only have the automatic available for the 335d is precisely because of this issue.
Have any of you 330d manual owners had a remap? Has the extra torque caused any problems at low gear/low speed? Thanks in advance for any first hand experiences..

This isn't going to help you, but I ordered a 330d auto specifically because it can handle more torque and I knew I was eventually going to remap. The auto box was designed for the 330d with a break factor of 1.6 (i.e. 500Nm stock x 1.6 = 800Nm). You need to ask your dealer and/or DMS how much the manual can take, I believe it's significantly less. I'm sure, however, that DMS will tweak to within what the manual can handle.
A few years ago I drove a manual 2001 530d and had it remapped from 193 to about 220hp. It was fun, but shifting the increased torque smoothly was hard work. This is why I went with the auto 'box this time around and I don't regret it.

Ant and Pete have been running a modded manual E90 330d in the Gumball with 320 hp and 750 Nm without any problems.
Try asking some questions on their website. http://www.antandpete.co.uk/ |

Thanks guys. I think I'll email DMS directly and ask them what they recommend but will also check with Ant and Pete.
