335d Remap - emei code overwrite?

If the ECU is remapped via the OBD using Genius is the flash date changed, the flash counter triggered and the emei dealer code overwritten?

Is OptiCan any different and, if so, who uses it?

This is the software generally used for the remap through the OBD. The other way of doing it requires removal of the ECU.

I am planning to remap mine in the autumn but as it is leased not owned it needs to be discrete.

I think I have found the answer - ChippedUK appears to be the main UK supplier.

Anyway - details of OptiCan are here -

Genius is apparantly the other software package used for mapping via the OBD port.

The flash counter is the ECU log for each software load - ie the remap will increase this by 1 - to map back again will increase it by another one. It an easy way for the stealer to catch you with your fingers in the cookie jar.

Looking at the OptiCan site they say it is vital to ensure that the voltage to maintained at 13v throught the upload and the install. This means that the car needs to be connected to a mains supply - I don't see how any of the mappers offering to do the install in a car park of your choice can do this.

Carlos...you f***er. You're posts are completely full of sh*te.

1- Don't play with your 'bits' in public
2- Everyone in Essex knows about your 'flashing', so why shouldn' BMW?

Prove it.

Seriously though, have a word with gIzzE- he has a wealth of information regarding re-maps, DMS etc

Coz the f*cking ECU will log it unless the remap addresses the log and deducts 1 from the total count.
