Having searched everywhere (I think) without success I finally gained the UPD1008 file by making up VIN numbers until the BMW downloads site would give it to me.

Just remember that file is NOT an update to your CIC as many seem to think.

It merely updates the COMBOX device tables so it recognizes newer phones. That is about it!

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to say thanks for this! My VIN did not show any updates available, but I knew this was the update I needed. Applied just fine.

And as a side benefit, it re-enabled the Sirius trial subscription! Not sure how long it will last but it's working for now.

Thank you been looking for the file in a lot of places for those of us doing retrofit its a nightmare as everyone just trows out the bmw url and thats not good for us...

its 2024 and i just did a combox retofit .. in 2024 there is no standard tools, and no bmw downloads either.... i tried over 10 different vins and couldnt get bmw to show me the file and yet here it is still on there website!

For anyone still trying to do this update post Jan 1 2024, the .bin file has an expiration date. You must change the current date of the car using the BC button to the left of the steering wheel to any date prior to 1/1/2024 in order for it to install. You can change the date back in your car to the current date after installation using the BC button again.

Thank you for this! but what is the BC button. I also am working on a Mac if that makes a difference.
