New to the BMW family!
Hello all of beamer world!
As the title states, I'm new so forgive if I ask some stupid questions but its always good to get them out of the way. I purchased a 2007 328i wagon with 95000 miles on it for a great deal. I am not running into the issue of a leaky valve cover and seal. I know after extensive research that these covers are usually plastic. After searching online, I found an aftermarket one that is aluminum. I will post the link. https://www.1aauto.com/bmw-valve-cov...2/2700068/2007 After reading the reviews, someone said it did not fit their E92 version which after looking up, I can only assume that is the M3 and typically the 335i format. AND also not the N52 engine that is in my wagon. Can this still be a viable option or if anyone has used this type of cover, your input would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advanced, go easy on me! LOL |

Well it's definitely not for the M3 because the E9x M3 has a V8 which would require two covers, one for each cylinder bank.
The one you linked to is an aftermarket aluminum valve cover that is listed as fitting the 2007+ N52 such as the one in your 328i. However this is not an oem part, and if I remember correctly there were a few posts here on this very forum where some people had issues with these and not getting them to fit properly or even some leaking. Your best bet if you're replacing it is to go with OEM, which is plastic. There are aftermarket plastic ones available from brands such as URO parts. however there are several posts about those not necessarily lasting long. To confuse things even more (but to help inform you) the N52 in the 2006 325 and 330 came with a magnesium valve cover. These use a slightly different PCV system with an external oil separator, so they're not compatible and definitely not an upgrade over the plastic covers. |
