I'm debating which intercooler to get as well as what size to go with. The Three I've been looking at are ets 5in or 7in or vrsf 7in. Is there any more bumper to trim for one 7 vs another 7? I don't think I'll be able to ever afford a turbo upgrade and I've read the 5 inch will suffice a stock turbo but there's just something about a large FMIC that just does it for me. (Not a compensation thing) The vrsf price is about half the ets 7in. So can anyone give me s good reason not to go Vrsf? They cool the highest power'd n54 (to my knowledge) but one dude on YouTube made me question their fitment.

Edit: I have a charge pipe, Catless downpipe, mhd bef JB4 and K&N drop in filter

Fitment is fine, but my temps rise 20+ degrees on a single 3rd gear pull, so not too good. I'd get the AD-E 650hp IC, I plan to eventually.

Overall I am happy with the intercooler and the trimming isn't anything I would worry about. I spent weeks before purchasing trying to find all the information I could about what to remove but it was pretty straight forward and not concerning. At 20 psi I gained 47, 45, and 44 degrees during 1/4 mile pulls without meth. I have not looked at other manufactures cooling efficiency. When running methanol I saw a 14 degree increase when doing a full 3rd, 4th, and part of 5th pull. Log and video below. I also reviewed the intercooler when I installed it.

The cost of FMICs varies between $460 and over $1,000. I'd be curious to learn why some cost more than others, and if those more expensive ones are worth the cost for a DD. It's very difficult to decide!

VRSF provides one of the best bang for your buck inter-coolers with the 7." Of course there are better inter-coolers on the market, but it's hard to beat the VRSF 7" for its price and performance value until you get into much more aggressive builds.
