The *New(ish)* M240i Racing Build

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey guys!!

Been a while since I’ve last posted, but here is an update on my build. Instead of going the normal build route, I decided to do a revised version of the F22 M240i Racing from the M240i Racing Cups. Here it is so far!

Information (M240iR):

- ~550whp
- ~650NM
- ~22+ Target Boost PSI
- BM3 OTS Stage 2 Racefuel Tune
- MAD Catless Downpipe
- MST Intake
- Straight Piped Exhaust
- BMS Red Strut Bars
- Five (5) Sponsors and counting…

I track this car every 2-3 months with Performance Driving Group at Homestead Speedway or Sebring. Only thing missing is a brake upgrade… Let me know your thoughts!! Wrap? More Power? Brakes? You name it!

Upgrade brakes for sure especially tracking. Surprised you don't have the ZTK package.

Yeah I didn’t ask for the ZTK package from factory but honestly the car really doesn’t need it on the track. Oil and coolant temps stay perfect while tracking👍🏽

Sounds really good. Do you have a burble tune? I have an exhaust right now which is basically a straight pipe with valves open and AA catted do and it’s not that loud and very few quiet burbles. Was considering putting on a catless and seeing how it sounds although worried it won’t be as deep

I switch between Stage 2 93 Octane (AGG) and Stage 2 Racefuel (with altered burbles settings). I put the burbles all the way up. What exhaust do you have?

With my pairing, there’s nothing stopping the pops from going through. So I got my catless downpipe and no muffler on whatsoever.

From a company called res that I found. The tone is very nice and deep it’s non resonated straight to the muffler which gets bypassed when valves are open. There was a pretty big difference when I first heard it after it got installed but now not so much, I think I just got used to it so it doesn’t seem as loud anymore

My straight pipe still sounds loud as heck

Maybe get a catless downpipe and if that’s not enough do what I did and just remove everything. To be fair my setup is more track-focused and not too many people would want the super loud noise (especially the cold starts).

Great toy! Brakes would make it even better on the track. Are you running the Michelins on the track?
I was just talking about this very same conversion plus coilovers and brakes for the track/weekends instead of an M2 the other day.
Enjoy!

Honestly your approach is completely backwards. A track car is safety first, tires and brakes second, suspension third and power last.

All you did was add more power.

I got inspired by the M240i Racing cars and cup. I wanted to recreate a new version of it for the G42 and it’s still in development.

I run Michelin PS4S tires all around for the track and for daily. They’re great sticky tires and I never lose grip.

No I know I need one but I’m still looking for a good one. I need something not too tall but also not too short. So I’m working devloping a custom wing (hopefully with active aero but if not then just a wing).

I do have safety modifications done. I wouldn’t run increased power without a few safety modifications. The car has two fire extinguishers inside the cabin (one for the driver and one for the passenger), improved suspension & toe links, high temp brake fluid, carbon pads, and more.

Harnesses? Cage? Admittedly I didn't read through it all.

Safety in a “race” car, which is what you think you are building means a full roll cage that is welded plus racing seats, 5 points harnesses, not fire extinguishers.

Anyway, if you think the PS4 provide good grip on track then you really didn’t need the extra power at all, you just needed to invest in seat time. Sorry to burst your bubble.
