Power to garage door opener
I bought a 2006 330i last week and decided to try to program the garage door opener today. I read through the manual and gave it a go with no luck. Read through about a dozen forum topics on the subject to see if I was missing something.
It looks like my issue is that I’m not getting any power to the buttons, at least the LED next to the buttons never flashes. I realized I’ve never seen the red bulb under the mirror blinking either. I believe that has something to do with the alarm being armed. The previous owner had the windshield removed and resealed just before I bought it. I’m wondering if the power didn’t get reconnected properly or if a fuse is blown. Any ideas on where to look first? |

garage door opener is getting power only when engine running
and red bulb under winter is blinking if you have full alarm, but many US cars have only preparation for alarm.

Thanks for the response. On my way to work this morning I noticed the compass was on, which it has been working all along, and realized the power must be getting to the mirror. So then I pushed the buttons and the LED started blinking so you’re absolutely right. I had the accessories on yesterday while I was trying to program, both with the key in the ignition and by just pressing the start button but it appears the engine does need to be running. I don’t know how I missed that step in all the reading I did yesterday. But I’m excited to try again when I get home.

sometimes it is seems that bmw car is too smart
because actually mirror assembly have inside different modules and 2 or 3 power signals activating various functions in different conditions for example alarm signal powered always auto-dim function should work when car is opened but engine can be not started and homelink is working only when engine started

Verify that your garage door opener is compatible with the BMW Homelink system.
In our past 2 houses, my 2011 E90 Homelink wasn't compatible with the Liftmaster garage door opener, so I had to buy a Chamberlain Homelink Repeater (both times) to work between the car and the opener: https://www.chamberlain.com/about-ch...B&gclsrc=aw.ds After that, there were no problems with programming the Homelink buttons or operation of the garage door openers (two door system). |

I appreciate all the help. I thought this would be pretty straight forward. I can’t get any communication between the homelink and the opener. I checked the chamberlain site and it looks like I’ll need the bridge.
