Can't reset oil change kilometers

Hello,

I have recently changed my oil in my 2007 320d E91 and wanted to reset the kilometers so I'd know when my next oil change is. However, when I tried to do it through the trip reset button, with the yellow triangle and so on. I held the BC button to reset it and the clock animation appeared but the kilometers still stayed the same and also in the negatives. (-21k) What could be the problem and what should I do? Thanks in advance.

How many km on the vehicle? After 300,000km you can no longer reset it: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=926864

That was my first thought too, but then I read the OPs car is a diesel. Not sure it applies.

I figured this would catch your attention!
It will be interesting to find out if/when OP posts the mileag/kilometerage on the the car.
I imagine the intervals on a diesel CBS would be programmed differently, but that the had limit they built into it could be the same.

Also of note, my 06 330i allowed me to reset the oil change intervals until it hit ~230K miles. Worked perfectly until then... I wonder if BMW updated that at some point.

I think it varies based on specific OCI average of the vehicle. Mine wouldn't reset after 221,000. The 186,000 mile de-mark is just in the SW code.

Has someone coded this out and get rid of the red “Service “ icon on the Dashboard?

I am planning to purchase the PROTOOL license for coding and get rid of Carly. I also need a new android tablet 🤔

If you have an old tablet that would be fine too, I'm running Protools on a ancient Galaxy S7 and it's fine. Best investment you can make, and so much more convenient than laptops with ISTA and NCS and all.

Really? Good to know. I haven’t had an adroid device in yrs. I can always buy a cheap one. 😜. Have you reset this service light using PROTOOL?

A cheap one should be fine. I've never had that service icon. According to Efthreeoh BMW "fixed" this issue with a software update that turned off the warning. You still can't reset the service interval, but no warning about it. If you have the warning icon yours hasn't been updated.

Yeah, I coded it out when I could no longer reset. Somewhere around 220k miles IIRC. I used a Foxwell tool to do it. NBD to turn it off.
