Featured on BIMMERPOST.com The M2 looks brilliant in the flesh, but this beauty certainly needs lowering springs, even more so then the G80/82 and my G42. I don't recall ever seeing a sports care that looks like it's designed for a drop and visually rides so high from the factory. The pumped arches certainly make it much more aggressive in stance then my G42, and the big discs and calipers look brilliant under the M wheels, ZB is not for me (Ive ordered BG) but the car still looks menacing in the flesh, fantastic packaging and stance - it just needs to be lowered with some quality springs. I got some detail shots of the headlights with the somewhat strange fake grill look detail in the corners, and the front air dam area (which had the plastic oil cooler guard fitted). I also spent some time poking around under the car and under the bonnet. The back box/rear muffler appears to be the same as the G80/G82. The running gear as we know is all M3/M4. Controls arms, struts, calipers, etc also appear visually identical. I think the rear control arm even had "M4" stamped on it but it was difficult to see without wedging my head perminently under the car. Suffice to say, the aftermarket is going to go nuts with this new M2. A playful, nimble, shorter wheelbase M4? Yes please! As usual, online photos and videos don't do the car justice. Worth experiencing it in person and I'm even more excited for delivery day. *** EDIT *** For those who want a little more data, my, three fingers are approx 2.5inch (60mm) and the front fender gap is easily around 2.5inches, the rear is closer to the 2inch mark. And yes, I measured my fingers for you guys. Another local block here in Australia also managed to take an actual ruler to the fender gap, Ive added the new photo to the thread. If I had to be a bit more exacting I'd say the front gap is around 52mm, the rear is around 40mm. Pretty similar to the M4 G82. Enjoy! Some cool videos. Looking forward to seeing a video of both side by side for comparison, front vs front, rear vs rear, etc. TBH, I think you have the G42 dialed in and the car has a better stance and much more menacing than the M2. Maybe it's the ZB making it look a little softer.
Side note, I'm surprised with the front splitter, side rockers, etc., that you stuck with the factory spoiler. |

Thanks for the finger test, can't believe you can fit three in the wheel well.
Definitely need to... |

The G87 has 5mm lower ground clearance than the G42 M240i xDrive (123 vs 128mm) and height is 1mm lower overall (1403 vs 1404mm) with larger diameter tyres/wheels (13mm more), so either the shipping blocks hadn’t been removed or the car suspension hadn’t been settled due to being jacked up and not rolled backwards and forwards afterwards.

The shipping blocks had certainly been removed and the car had been rolled into the dealership and it's been started several times (so the level sensor lowers the shocks after being jacked), that's the stock height in the video. Regardless, the M2 looks stunning and a drop would just set the stance off. |

Although seeing the M2 in the flesh, the pumped guards already look great, all the aero on the G42 makes it look like it's compensating in comparison The M2 looks almost a little classier without all the aero, but equally powerful with the flared arches, 275/285 wheels, big discs +callipers and the wider stance - it doesn't really need the aero to look like it means business. |

Look forward to your M2 build. I'd definitely avoid the BMW Aero stuff on the M2... that would be "over-compensating."
But for me, it needs a better spoiler to balance the bumper. I mentioned the CF bumper covers to fill that square void and still believe it needs to be filled but Black 3M wrap cut out the same as the CF would do... along with the front intake black to match. Brooklyn Gray... if no Aero... Stealth PPF would make the M2 look mean. Enjoy. Quote:

Wth is this huge gap towards the front arch?! Almost looks like the tire is too small for the front. Perhaps bmw was taking into account the beating the wildly exposed front radiators would be getting from all the road debris when they decided on the ride height

Not enough gap. I'm going to run a square 13" setup and install a Bilstein lift kit. Gonna be so sick.

Is it possible the shipping blocks are still in? As someone with one on order that likes to keep his cars stock, that does look like a problem...

Doesn’t look too far off from Joe’s test car, although I still think the one shown has shipping blocks, or is unsettled, but who knows…

If it’s like my M4 comp when new, the suspension will settle down quite a bit with some miles. My M4 looked jacked up when I got it, but it settled down after about 3 weeks of driving.

It's odd but I think the wheel gap on a stock G87 is the same as the wheel gap on a stock F87. I just don't notice it as much on the F87 because it's a smaller car...Maybe?
