Aggressive Track Fitment Guide - 19x11 305 Square

I primarily use this car as a weekend fun car/Autocrosser and wanted to run a 305 square setup without pinching a 305 on a 10.5 wheel. I've seen a 19x11 run but there wasn't too much definitive info on it and after a bit of research, I pulled the trigger on a set of Apex VS5-RS in Motorsport Gold as part of their Black Friday sale. I hope this info helps others in their wheel/tire search and is a good base for an initial track alignment.

Wheels
Apex VS5-RS 19x11 ET22
12mm Spacers all around

Tires
Falken RT660 305/30R19 Sqaure

Suspension
M Performance HAS - Mostly all the way down besides adjustments to corner balance.
Millway Race camber plates

Alignment
Front
-3.3 deg camber
1mm toe out
Rear
-2.1 deg camber
2mm toe in

Clearance
This barely touches the fender liner at full lock and doesn't catch. I would slightly trim or apply heat and bend the fins a little.

The strut barely clears and I would say this is about the most tire you can get up front on this setup without adding spacer and rolling/pulling fender. As a note, the RT660 is probably going to be the widest tire within a given section width in the 200tw category.

The rear has no issues clearing whatsoever.

Looks good. Are the RT660's directional?
Check the struts after a few track days. I had about a 5 mm gap between my 295's and struts while stationary but I started to see signs of rubbing from tire flex on corners.

Thanks! Yes they are directional but there is no inside/outside specification meaning they can be flipped by mounting them to the opposite side wheel. I'm going to keep an eye on the strut to see if I get any rubbing but i can fit a credit card in there and am hoping the tire flex is minimal on a 30 sidewall.

any downsides to running this much rubber? Is the turn in blunted at all? Is it more snappy on over steer? Appreciate tires also play a part in this.

The additional tire really helps the turn in and there is no more understeer on corner exit. The steering is a bit heavier with such a wide tire but overall I feel like the car is more agile and responsive with the alignment changes and additional grip. The car settles into a corner beautifully now and feels so satisfying when you get it just right.

Do you think this setup with the wheels and tires would work with stock suspension?

It should work with the stock springs but you absolutely need camber plates to avoid interference with the fenders.

Looks great. Probably exactly how I want to set mine up, but with 305 Goodyear 3r.
How’s the steering response feel?

Dammit....I might need to add camber plates to the to do list now . Looks great. Any side-shots of your car in daylight? Want to see the gold against the BG from the side in uncolored light.

The steering is heavier but feels a little more vague because it is such a wide tire, it's still very precise and direct though.

This is probably as close to what it looks like in person. I don't have any unedited pics during the day unfortunately.

I rotated the tires today after 3k miles and 40-50 autocross runs. Definitely has more inside wear on the front and the rears are wearing pretty even. I'll probably flip the tires after another couple of events if I don't wind up pulling the trigger on a set of RE71RS now that they are out in this spec.

Here's a couple from my last event. I need to get the H&R sway bars on.

Looks awesome.

Great to hear that you've mitigated the understeer coming out of corners. That's a big annoyance for me right now.

I'm going to 285/30 R20 up front, so not sure that will eliminate as much understeer as I'd like.

Thanks for sharing those pics. Looks great.
Do you feel you have too much grip now for the softness of the factory ish suspension?

Moving to a 285 upfront will definitely help reduce understeer. I still had some understeer issues under braking but tried the sport brake setting and it seemed to move the brake bias toward the rear a good bit. I'm for sure going to be playing with this next event.

This isn't as big of an issue as I thought it was going to be, the M HAS kit is stiff enough over stock I feel it handles the additional grip pretty well. The only time I feel the car gets overwhelmed is through the tight quick transfer elements which are where I hope the sway bars will help but am worried it might make the car a little too stiff for my liking.
