11.35 @ 120.2 1/4 Mile

Another update from G42 land! Threw an AA catted DP and a JB4 from the Supra I sold on the M240. This car continues to impress me every step of the way. Everything else is stock on this car other than the tires. I replaced the factory P7 A/S RFT with 245/40 19 Conti DWS 06+. Plus a K&N drop in filter.

Runs were map 2 at about 3/4 tank of gas (E20 or so) and I weigh in the neighborhood of 210 lbs for the math nuts that want to run calculations and whatnot.

Impressions: Car has ridiculous amounts of grip from a dig. The launch control programming is bananas. The car is a bit heavy and you really feel it up top. If it were 500 lbs lighter it would easily be a 10 sec car. Regardless, 11.35 1/4 for 4000+ lbs is super quick with this minimal level of mod. These times (11.35 1/4, 7.21 1/8, 3.18 0-60) are getting real close to stock G8x xdrive numbers.

The more I drive the car the more I like it. Recently did a 1000+ mile road trip up in the mountains through the snow, and the car handled it like a champ. I'm going to make another thread for that review.

Here's the dragys:

EDIT: Caveat, as the dragy says, it was 29 degrees at sea level and a -2500 DA. results not typical lol

Active Autoworke downpipe with catalytic converter.
JB4 is a piggyback tuner from burger motorsports.

Did you do any logging? If so how are your fuel trims?

Nice results! Thanks for sharing & sharing your impressions of the car.

What's next? I know B58 Supra guys add port injection. Pure 800?

I think the B58 is a gem. I live in Wisconsin so AWD is a must. Therefore for me, M240i xDrive > Supra.

M3C xDrive is 82K with minimal options. M240i xDrive is 52K with minimal options. Not sure S58 is worth 30K more...

Just going to play with it as is and maybe dial it in more. Options are limited considering the locked DME and whatnot. I definitely prefer the M240 to the Supra, and honestly prefer it to my RS3. The only upside to the RS3 is the 400 lbs weight diff and the fact its tunable.

Speaking of the G8x, the day after I bought the M240 I put a deposit on a 22 M4CX. Next allocation at my local dealership is mine, and I cant wait. Hoping to see it by late summer/early fall. I think the G8x is worth the extra 30k. it would take almost that much to buy a pure 800, port injection, buy unlocked ECU, clone, tune, build trans, trans tune, etc etc. And all that money is mostly lost on the G42, as to where a G8x xdrive with a JB4 is dynoing 650+ and running 9s while retaining the value. Plus the M4CX will turn, handle, and brake better than the M240...

I do love the M240, but its basically a loaner til the M4CX comes in.

You make some good points, thanks for your analysis Hendo!

I was set on a M3C w/AWD down the road after my RS3 but the B58 in the M240 has/had me thinking twice...we'll see what happens.

Thanks again for sharing info & your thoughts!

What rims did you put those 245's on? I like the idea of going with the same size front and back to reduce under steer. My car was ordered with the RFT's also, which came on the 19x8 27 offset rims. I'm just wondering if you put the new tires on those.

I put them on the 791M 19x8 F&R. Pretty sure its the same wheel you have coming.

Yes, those are the wheels I have. It's good to know those larger tires work and don't rub. This could definitely work for me.

Hendo, you are the man for not only confirming downpipe fits, but now showing us what the g42 m240s will do with just a dp and jb4!

Everything’s looking good man. Map4 will def max you out since you have the E20. This is the problem with JB4 it's a nice product but cannot manage fueling correct since it's a piggyback, the only way to fix it is the do a BEF with MHD which we can’t do lol. long story short i've been running map5 and 6 and maxxing out as soon as i WOT. i worked with Terry at JB4 he's a really cool guy and we made so many changes to things with map6 and we finally got the car stable running E35 with a 93 blend, this took about 3 months going back and forth, logging and testing. Every so often the trims would be high but not enough to drop it to map8. Car is a rock solid now and just waiting for our ECU to be cracked. To bad you guys cant do xhp, make the transmission lighting quick just like a dct

Your profile says you have a 21 M240. As in F series still? I'm surprised I'm having fueling issues as I thought these cars (G42) had the B58TU with upgraded HPFP.

Timing > boost. If you look at the 1/4 mile log boost is around 18 with tons of ignition timing. it only hits 20 as throttle closes at the end when the car hits the governor lol.

Don't know how much of a tuning nerd you may or may not be, but I find stuff like this interesting. It's a tuning guide for the B58. Unlike older engines that have static boost tables the B58 works by calculating cylinder fill volume from requested torque values. It may decide to run low boost high ignition advance, or higher boost and lower timing. From what I've noticed over the 100s of logs I've done with the M240 and Supra is that it'll run higher boost and lower timing as IATs increase.

Anyway, here's the link:

Can you run the pure turbo on a jb4 alone? Wouldn't that break into the 10 second 1/4 mile mark?

So what are we talking cost-wise to get one of these cars into the 10's reliably?

From what I'm thinking it would be a tune, high flow cat and pure turbo. I think on 91 octane it would hit a 10.9 or 10.8 with proper tires/wheels.

Supposedly you can run a pure 800 with jb4. Personally I'd prefer a actual tune if I'm going that level of upgrade. Rumblings from the supra community is that all bosch 7/20+ ECUs are going to be tunable via MG flasher w femto unlock. I'd guess that includes G42s.

5-10k to do it right imo. Pure 800, port injection, DP, and ECU tune. My question would be, does the xdrive trans hold up at those power levels?
