Firstly you need to tell us what engine you have. Is petrol or diesel, then what size engine and what year is it?

Mine did this its also a petrol but the 2.5 N52 engine. Same symptoms, cut out and had orange check engine light. When I scanned the codes it was the inlet vanos solenoid. I replaced it and no more problems. Drives much better at low revs too.
You need to get the codes scanned.
