Recommended tools for BMW

Supposedly have 5 to 6 months untill my M2 arrives. This being my first BMW, besides the usual standard tools, are there any other specific tools needed to do basic work on BMWs such as brakes, oil changes, suspension, etc..? So far I've bought the adapter for the jack stands.

I bought an Oyster blender and withdrew stacks of cash for any roadside emergencies.

You'll be fine with standard tools.

A set of E-Torx (inverted torx) sockets might be handy. There are some of those bolts on the car.

Also a good torque wrench together with a torque angle gauge for use with single use stretch bolts that are used in areas such as brake caliper attachment.

You might want to assemble a proper roadside flat repair kit....

Rear brakes have integrated parking brakes which makes them a real PIA to replace pads. You need to put the rear brakes into maintenance mode in order to replace them. BMW uses ISTA but there are other diagnostic tools that can also do it. There are also a few hacks to do it without any diagnostic tools, search the G80 forum.

Honestly i would like to build a basic toolbox for my cars. i now have a small garage. but i am looking at ProTool for the electronic stuff.

You can use protool to reset the brakes and diag the car but it requires and android phone or tablet.

Following the "hacks" the rear pads are very easy to change - less than 10 min.

The F8x were much easier since they had fixed calipers, you just popped the retaining pin and slide in new pads, pop the pin back in, done. On the G8x, aside from having to retract the brakes, you need to remove a couple of bolts and pull off the caliper to replace the pads, PIA.

I use Protools also, but I’m having a challenge coding out the ASD.

Comes with a goo kit and inflator (in the US, I think it varies from place to place). No spare, no jack.

For what it's worth, this is a far better tire repair kit. From what I've heard...
