Vibrations at high speed
Hey,
So I've been having vibrations in the car when driving 70mph (2022 M240i). Took it for a service... first thing was two front rims are bent, then they re-balanced and aligned the wheels. It's better but still vibration. They say the tires have shifted belts in the tire (something I never heard of), and I should replace both front tires, and that it's not covered by road hazard insurance..... the car did ~6000 miles since I got it last February. I don't remember going into deep potholes, just the regular NJ roads Does this make sense that I have this damage after this milage? How can I avoid it? I never had this kind of damage in other cars I owned (Accord, GTI). Any advice is welcome. Thank you |

First thing I would do is switch the front wheels to the back. If it changes, they're right. I would just want a little piece of mind for myself before I spend money.
Forgot about the off set difference. Could always go left to right. Even then it should make a difference. The rims aren't going to be bent exactly the same. Last edited by tahoeacr; 01-24-2023 at 02:02 AM.. |

If you have "shifted belts" you should also feel it at very low speeds (parking lot speeds) on a real smooth surface. It should feel a little lumpy or 'out of round' with each wheel rotation.
