Torn between a 3-400$ intake that looks cool or just a better quality drop in...
Can grab a K&N off eBay for 50$ which is about as much as Im willing to spend on a drop in... |

the AWE S-FLO is nice but not worth $800+. the injen EVO1103 is basically the same design as the awe S-FLO, cheaper and looks cheap, as well. the older injen appears to be like a short ram= big noise and power degradation (after heatsoak). the only intake i'd consider spending money on is the AFE Momentum. i'ts the nicest looking, matches the engine bay, uses the factory inlet and some other vents. if you don't wan't to spend that much then a drop in. |

Thank you for your insight. Will definitely check out the AFE Momentum before I decide.

I picked up a K&N drop in today for 53$ from AutoZone. Best call for me at this point considering the almost nonexistent increase in power you can expect from an aftermarket intake system.
Definitely a learning point for me with turbo engines or maybe just BMW in general not gaining much from aftermarket intakes right out of the box. This was my first mod on almost every vehicle Ive ever owned. |

you can put the money you've saved(from getting an intake) towards a sport or stage 1 piggy-back tune. i'd say go stage1 piggy, such as jb1 or even jb4. check the classifieds if you want to save some pennies. just be sure it's for whichever wastegate you have pneumatic(pwg)=lil older, electronic(ewg)=newer

Nice. If I do get a tune it will likely be with a Burger Motorsports product, as you've suggested. I am waiting on my BMS catch can to arrive any day now.
As far as the wastegate, do you know off hand which one would be on the 2014 N20 engine. |

i don't know off hand but i think you have a ewg. the best way is to visually look at it. the pwg is easy to identify. if you google pics of n20 pwg or ewg you'll be able to know.

Hi
What intake did you end up with? And I have been on the edge about installing a catch can since a long time, and there isn't much info online about people having catch can on F30 N20/N26. Curious if you did install your catch can, what is your feedback on it? Thanks. I am guessing you may have pwg. Ewg started around 2014/11 builds onwards, and were probably always ewg on n26. |

I have the AFE intake it's pretty good tbh do you notice a difference I mean ehhhhh if you datalog your car you can tell the IAT's go down also since it's a plastic tube not a aluminum or whatever the injen one is it doesn't heat up as much and make you lose power.

BMS catch can was my first mod and has given me zero issues. Catches a bunch of garbage every 5k. I am EWG. 2014 BMW 328i SULEV (N26) |

I am N26 as well, Hi5 on that!.
I am also on the edge about putting almost half a grand towards an intake for nongains. But I am equally very interested in sound gains, but not wanting to go over 300-350$ mark. I do want it for better nosie and improved airflow, as in future (post-warranty) plan to track the car (+bolt ons). Catch Can So it is worth the investment. I plan to keep my car as long as possible, and thus the reason I have been curious about catch can. Where did you guys follow the install instructions? I am usually handy but scared to mess around with all those PVC's in a tight spot, advice? Did you observe any performance hits, and would you recommend to install one. sspade s3ri3s1 Quote:

@shubhammakharia
Definitely worth it if you want to keep the car for many miles. Very easy to install as well. I believe instructions are available right on BMS website for download prior to purchase. That way you can see if you want to tackle the DIY. |

intake is the last of the bolt-on mods to be considered.
if you're going to track the car, upgrade to an ATM(Ambient Thermal Management, going on sale shortly) or Wagner Competition EVO 1, intercooler. |
