BMW e92 335i ( n55 ) 2C01 & 2BDE codes
Hello everyone!
Recently I started to experience some problems with my 335 that it started to get longer cold starts, go rough on idle and smell a lot of gas from the exhaust. Once the 2C01 code occurs the car comes in to limp mode, however it works fine once I cleared the code. The code only comes when I start the car and stand on idle, never when I am driving. It happened one or two times that the car also died once I started it and put it in reverse, but when it did it was just to start up the car again and everything works fine. Is this typical symptoms of a failing HPFP? I get no other codes regarding injectors etc. Car is running MHD stage 2 + fbo. |

It might be a faulty high pressure fuel sensor and not necessarily the pump.
You have MHD, have you done any logging? I had some twitchy low speed throttle response, and low pressure fuel codes. I replaced the pump/regulator and it didn't fix the problem. Only after I got MHD and did some data logging did I see that the low pressure was dipping intermittently into single digits or down to zero. A new pressure sensor fixed the problem. Your long starts point to HP fuel pump, but I didn't think a weak/failing fuel pump would affect the fuel smell, that seems more like injector problems. |
