Anyone else experiencing a slow iDrive 8?

Especially when in the navigation, it gets pretty laggy. The overall experience has been pretty disappointing

Only 150 miles in so my experience is limited. What I can say is that before leaving the dealership I parked to get basic setup taken care of. It was extremely laggy and slow while going through everything the first time. I assumed it was downloading whatever images and animations and fonts or whatever all it needed for the first time. After this, I noticed a couple laggy seconds here and there in the first hour or so behind the wheel.. but after that I think it cleared up. I also remember that in the first hour or two, it would take a solid 5 seconds to switch tracks when I picked a new one in the HUD.

No perceived lag from what I’ve experienced so far. The BMW genius told me to hold down the volume power button for about 30 seconds to hard reset the system if it becomes laggy. He say they do this on all new iDrive8 systems because from the factory/port it comes a bit laggy. You’ll know if you did it right if the it a notification pops up saying it’s scanning for the Nav or something like that on the next system boot.

After 2 months of ownership I can finally perceive what others mean by a lag! It’s definitely not as quick as a smartphone… but for the first time, my idrive decided to freeze on the warning screen and I had to do a reset on it…

It used to lag a bit for me before the second to latest update. Not anymore. When it did lag, force restarting iDrive helped. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds

Yeah I’ve been doing that on and off but it’s just a hassle… I feel in 2023 technology should be better than old PC’s needing a reboot once in a while… or at least make it equal to the processing power of our iPhones for God’s sake lol

I've had it for months now, had to reboot once, and it does lag occassionally if doing to many things at once, but i also have an old phone so when playing off android auto the lag is def from my phone not the system. I've seen lag on the main system only when switching between cards too much (idrive8 2023 G42)

My 24 was insanely laggy as well,I had to hold the power button down for 15 seconds and do a hard reset. It’s fixed now.

I'm going to try that. iDrive was slow before and is slow after an update was applied (while the car was in its garage).
