Good evening folks,

I am new to BMW and looking for some help here. Did anyone have this issue with Tire Pressure Monitor Malfunction? I installed winter square set up 225/40 R19 and now the light doesn't come off from the dashboard. I tried both automatic and manual tire recognition but both progress up to 49% and then gives an error. Please help if there any solutions.

I probably have some OCD :-) My goal for my winters is to basically have the rubber be different but everything else about the wheels be the same. I won't be driving the M240i in the snow much as I have another vehicle I can drive, but I will be driving it in the cold a lot and I want it to hold the road well and still be fun to drive. Winter temps can last ~5 months long here in MA.

I've since decided to put Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 go-flats on the stock rims and get new summer wheels for the PS 4Ss that come off. I did go smaller up front; 225/40/19 vs 245/35/19. Rears are both 255/35/19.

So I just ordered some APEX SM-10 19"x9" wheels to use as my winter set. Now the question is should I go with 235/40R19 tires or would 255/35R19 work better ? I'm looking at Blizzaks LM005.
Any advice ?

The narrower the tire the better. What rim size are you running for the Summer?

16X5.5 with a 205 on my Evo and it's unstoppable.

For driving on snow, narrower would probably be better, but since I live in Chicago, the streets are usually plowed 70%-80% of the time in winter. I'm assuming a wider tire would work better on dry/wet plowed roads. Also would a 235/40 tire be a bit stretched on a 9" wheel ?

I asked about your Summer rims because if you have the standard 8 and 8.5 that would be better than those nice looking 9's you just ordered. It's about pounds per square inch. Ice, plowed or the deep stuff the narrow rim works better. Plowed is usually worse. The plow makes it smooth, then is freezes. You obviously don't need as radical set up as I do but even with ice you want to go narrow. I drive a snow plow all night long for my off season job. I'm out driving in all kinds of conditions.

That didn't copy over well. It's from tire rack. Get a 225. It will work on a rim 7.5 to 9". You want the best braking you can get. But I guess it also depends on just how mellow/slow you want to drive in the Winter.
Since I'm stuck in the Winter so long I like to have a little fun once in awhile on a closed course.

A snow tire is not going to rail a dry corner irregardless. No since in getting a wide one. Taller sidewall will work better because it effectively transfers the weight slower and allows the driver to catch it. But a really tall sidewall will feel squirly on dry roads. I will probably go with 18x7's on my M240. I'm looking into 17's but I hope my wife doesn't want to drive it that much in the Winter. Got a Raptor and F350 I'd rather have her drive in case a dumb tourist hits her.

Have to get new taller winter tires though.

Just to let you know, I bought Continental tyres for my 893 wheels. Continental are recomended by BMW and they fit perfectly. I was a bit affraid that for this wheels I will have to choose another tyres

For non-ZTK package, do we have consensus that the following spec will work, if you want to go 18in, for winter wheels and tires?

Squared setup:

Wheels:
18x8, ET28, 5x112 bolt setup

Tires:
225/45R18

I do have an M240i XDrive that should arrive anytime soon and I want to be prepared to mount winter wheels and tires as soon as it arrives.

My car is spec with the 19in 791M, w/performance non run-flat tires and M Sport Brakes.
Front: 19x8.0, 225/40 R19
Rear: 19x8.5, 255/35 R19

I'm new to having a dedicated set of wheels and tires for winter and I want to do this right, specially for a car with this amount of power.

For what I've researched so far, it seems that the setup described above should work however, the only value that concerns me here is the offset, I haven't been able to find a reliable source that lists the offset for these wheels.

I haven't been able to find a reliable source for what offset these wheels are running, any one can point me in the right direction?

I want to have a setup as close as possible to the OEM one. I've seen and offset of 40 for the rear wheels which moving to 28 will bring the wheel a bit out from the OEM setup. In theory, this will leave more space between the wheel and the suspension which I guess it's true but I don't know about the downsides, I suspect turning will be affected. (pic below)

As for the fronts, I believe the OEM I've seen is 27, so changing to 28 shouldn't be big of an issue.

Anyone shedding some light about offset and wheel fitment?

The plan B is to buy pirellis sottozero (thinking on going blizzaks for the 18in) of same size as OEMs and call it a day. The downside I see here are all the potholes and having a wider rear tire that will struggle to go through snow, this car will be my daily driver year round.

As a side note, I've been referred to tirerack and plug the info for the 3 series and that they should fit but there are multiple offsets and I end up in the same dilemma. Also, tirerack asks to define if the vehicle is XDrive or not, is there something to consider for wheels for XDrive cars?

The dealer told me the 796M should fit with the larger brakes (33T package) but I'm not sure the 898Ms would leave more space for grit / snow buildup between the calipers and the wheels. Link to the Canadian winter catalog below

This is exactly what I did, with 18" rims at ET28, on 225/45R18
Blizzaks. My car is non-ZTK and 797M rims. I've been out in the snow with it a couple times, and I have zero complaints whatsoever. I'd recommend this route.
