Some great contract hire deals and it is getting nothing but praise from those that have driven it.
Think it will be a real Marmite car though, people will want to hate it for the sake of hating it.

I think they certainly look great, and yes they do receive praise, but don't know all that much about them (mpg, space, etc). Would certainly consider one.

I liked it right up to the point I saw one in the flesh - looks like a Freelander that someone has stood on! I have a hunch it might grow on me, but at the moment I'd just buy a top of the range Freelander and save some cash.

Any reports I have read say it is quite small, smaller than an X1 apparently.

Think its a better bet then the Nissan Juke she nearly went for when they first hit our shores. I'll have a look at the contract deals, cheers.

I was lucky enough to be invited to an Evoque Launch event last saturday.

I got to drive the car on a 50mins loop taking in A and B roads and farm tracks etc. And a drive around landrovers terrapod (offroad simulator) course.

I got a 190bhp diesel dynamic coupe (sporty model) which had a great interior and satnav, paddle shift auto (like on a Jag) and what seemed like a good sound system. The car is really good to drive, plenty of power and torque and reasonably economical. The ride is excellent and the handling was very good for a small SUV.

I think if you were to go for a 190bhp 5dr auto 4wd in a good colour combo with sat nav and the panoramic roof you'd be looking at a £40k car. But I cant see these losing a huge amount in the first 3 years - 20,000 cars sold before anyone drove one! Including many of the other people at the event- quite a few nervous faces prior to the drive and all happy faces afterwards.

I must say I'm glad there were no sales people there ready to take my order!!! I think this may be my next car in a year or so.

i like the look of them Far better looking and more practical than an X6. A bit small though..but then again it was designed by Mrs Beckham herself.
If any of you do end up buying one, can you post some pictures and do a mini review

Been looking at the contract deals and the base model kicks in around £370+VAT on a business contract with about a £2.5k deposit over 36 months. Options stack it up though, plus would want a little more than the base model.

Think we'll book a test drive as it will be interesting to feel the comparison between the Freelander II and the RRS which we have both had over the years.

Anyone looking for a fast Megane with only 18K on the clock as getting my wife's backside out the Evoque will be like trying to prise it out of her size 8 jeans!

saw one in the flesh at chatsworth country fair last week, inside is quite basic and very plasticky! Not very impressed. Seems the korean cars are class leaders nowadays...how we laughed at them a few years ago!

I don't agree, the interior on the one I drove was excellent. Leather everywhere, dual view touch screen Nav with in built tv etc etc. I'm not sure what else you'd want in terms of gadgets?!

I meant it'll hold it's value at least as well as the disco 3/4 and rrs. I.e be worth circa 60% after 3 years.

The difference between basic spec and something rather more expensive?

I wouldn't have thought they'd use a base model for a show car.

Having seen one of these in the flesh they look fantastic.

In a years time when there are loads on the road, they may not look as special.

But they are a very nice piece of kit however once speced they just look VERY expensive for what they are.

Having said that, whilst in France last week I saw a lot of Mercedes GLKs on the road (not available in the UK yet) and whilst not as stunning as the Evoque they did look very nice for a lot less money

Friends of ours placed an order for one yesterday. They have had FFRR previously and currently RRS. They reckon it doesnt feel that much smaller than RRS inside - I remain to be convinced. As said they are selling like hot cakes so demand will be strong for a while yet. Even so, I can't see theirs holding onto a big percentage of the £15k of options they have specced!!!

Merc GLK is interesting - saw them first in the States about 3 years ago and thought they looked good. Then saw a couple in Spain this year and they looked even better - size more in proportion with surrounding cars! Very surprised they are not in UK yet..??

Having just returned from my local Mercedes dealer (yes it's been an expensive morning), they were telling me that they are coming to the UK but not until next year at the earliest.
