M240iR Custom Racing at The FIRM
Hey guys!! It’s been a while since my last track update but here you go.
I recently tracked my G42 iR Custom again and this time at The FIRM (Florida International Rally & Motorsports Park) with Cars & Canards. Here’s a few things I noted. 1. Track Notes: The G42 was a well-rounded against this track, however (a) Since this track is shorter than Homestead Speedway or Sebring (1.6miles), it was a bit more challenging for this heavy car, even with weight reduction. (b) Compared to the Michelin PS4S tire, the Extreme Contact Sport 02 did not preform as well on a track. Though they are not track-focused tires, they are versatile. I noticed that compared to the PS4S, the ECS 2 tires took longer to warm up and were not as grippy as the Michelins. I don’t know the full reason for this, but I’m guessing the Michelin PS4S tired are softer, allowing them to have larger surface area for grip when put under these conditions. 2. Rim Talk: Compared to my last track day, this time I was equipped with ApexWheels VS-5RS rims. (Front: 255/35/R19 ; Rear: 295/30/R19). Compared to stock, both the rims and tires proved to grip more, though I believe these upgraded rims could have done better on PS4S tires or better. 3. Some photos from my track day are posted below along with some track times. Being my first time on this track, I was able to decrease my time almost 5 whole seconds from my 1st session to my 3rd. Compared to previous track days, this time the G42 was equipped with Apex VS-5RS rims, carbon pads, RBF660 brake fluid, crankcase breather, and upgraded toe links. (Yes, the roll cage was not on in these photos). If you have any question please feel free to ask below! As I previously mentioned in other posts, the G42 continues to go beyond my expectations but is, of course, far from perfect.

About time someone tracks there car. That is why I bought one. Mine is pretty much stock except for camber kits. What is your alignment set up? What brakes are you using? I run Endless and the work great on the track and little to no squeal off the track. I run at MSRH (Motor Sport Ranch Houston).
