Do you have any more fuse panel info for any of the other fuses/slots?

i used bimmercode to program the car to start up in sport individual mode, and by default the startup is much louder & burbles because the valve is open by default in sport. I recommend this if you're just looking for a louder startup.

Thanks for this info mate!

Will this work on UK cars? Sorry if this is a dumb question mate, would rather ask and get it right than wing it and fcuk something up

Also what's the procedure to keep the valve open if your pulling a fuse?

This only changes the sound on startup, right? Not all the time?

Honestly not worth it just for a louder start up. You never know if they would want to give you at hard time when taking your car in for service
.
Gimme a break, if a service dept is gonna give you a hard time about something so piddly, find a different one. What they gonna do, refuse to change yer oil?

Thanks for the tip! Did this tonight and the car sounds much better. Now I can drive in reduced active sound mode and still have the exhaust valve open. The car was too quiet before when reduced ASD kept the exhaust valve closed even in sport plus.

I ended up doing all three Mods
  • Pull Fuse
  • Code Sporty settings
  • Code off Active sound in the cabin.

I agree is not as loud as above but a lot better

In adaptive or comfort you will get some over-run burbles and a better sound overall even at Highway speeds when cruising.

I will add the fuse back before service by then the exhaust should carbon up nicely and change the noise profile.

allfitat55 sorry because it may be obvious...

I know what it is the fuse thing + deactivate the Active Sound ,

but what did you mean by "code sporty settings" ?

Thanks in advance

One value is open and one valve is closed during startup. Depending on your climate, this is very easy to see when the temps are cooler. You'll see water vapor only coming from one pipe.

The OP now has both valves opened, which results in both valves being opened along with a louder startup exhaust sound.

A lot of people have referred to this as a golf tee mod.
Actually if your tuned, the code does show as your tuner will pick up ghost codes to show you what BMW will see. BMW is able to see this code but you won't with a regular OBD2 reader. Honestly not worth it just for a louder start up. You never know if they would want to give you at hard time when taking your car in for service.

If I plug the sensor wire back in will the code go away?

I just did this today! Worked like a charm! Thanks for the tip and doing the homework on which fuse to pull!

This is gonna be a dumb question, how are all of you pulling the Fuze, are you using your fingers, or some type of tool like screw driver etc?

A fuse puller if you have one, tiny needle nose pliers, etc

If you have small enough fingers, you could do that. Otherwise, there are plastic fuse pullers
U-M Fuse Puller - Auto Automobile Fuse Puller Extraction Tool for Car Fuse (Yellow) Attractive and Fashion https://a.co/d/6pkY1AP

You could also use tweezers or very small needle nose pliers

Were you able to access this selection via F22/F23 or G20/21 chassis in Bimmercode? I know they're working on G42, but no update as of yet...

Is there a difference between coding off active sound vs just setting it to reduced mode?

Yes, Active sound turns off all artificial sound in the car from the stereo so it's just exhaust from the rear. This makes a little quieter inside.

whereas reduced will keep the valve open. (tested) You also get some control say your going a long trip and decide to go eco you can use reduce to go back to eco for a quieter drive if desired over pulling the fuse
