Question Brooklyn / Skyscraper / Dravit grey - Help!

Can't seem to decide so I'm going to leave it down to the all important factor, my laziness!

Which will hide dirt/scratches best and go longer without needing a wash? lol.

We have a BG X3 and it never looks dirty, which is a bold statement when living in the UK.

It’s by far the best colour for not looking dirty that I’ve ever owned.

Got 340i in SSG, you wont see dust or dirt only up close, but scratches will be pretty visible close up even the light ones.

Friend of mine has X3 in BG, apart from mud and deep scratches which are visible, its pretty maintenance free

Brooklyn will definitely be less maintenance compared to dravit grey. BG is a relatively flat color that has little shine, while dravit has a lot of sparkle and is a lot more reflective.

Dravit is already too dark to be maintenance free, suffers the same issues that black does, dust, dirt, dead insect etc.

But in daylight it reflects very nicely.

SSG. I think a metallic silver hides most things better than any color in general, and SSG is really nice. Dravit requires legitimate maintenance. Brooklyn is light and flat, I’d think it could look dirty quicker and more frequently than the other two.

Lighter colors are always better and Brooklyn Grey is a beautiful color.
It will hide light dirt and dust the longest without needing a wash.

Light and darker colors have their drawbacks and benefits in terms of dirt.

Darker colors will hide certain dirt better, hide brake dust, hide road grime, hide bugs/insects, etc.

Lighter colors don't really "attract" eyes to look towards the dirt as easily, but they will show road grime and brake dust more easily.

I don't think you should pick a color based on how hard or easy it is to keep clean.

I think Skyscraper hides dirt and light scratches really well. In my opinion, once you go much lighter, dirt becomes more visible.

I should add too that I live in Canada so have to factor in the winter conditions too with the salt spray leaving dirty white residues on the car.
That rules out Dravit now as it'll look dirty quick in the winter. I've seen enough horrible looking white / black cars in the winter here to realize that now.

Down to the old classic SG or current trendy BG. Might end up being a coin toss.
Thanks everyone.

I traded in a white car for a tanzanite Blue car. Boy does my car get dirty FAST!

Brooklyn will be easier to maintain.

I know it’s a lot to go through, but, you can see tons of colors from this one thread. Maybe one will sway your decision.

Ever considered ‘chalk?’

Or Fashion grey?

That chalk color is really nice, might consider it for a next car, way better than apline white.

I'm so confused with Dravit grey, which I quite like initially, through photos and videos I've seen.

Saw it in person and it just looked so much darker than expected. It's been sitting on a lot, not clean and in tight with other cars. Wondering now if that might be the reason. Have to find another for a better look before giving up on it.

Any Dravit grey owner can chine in?

It looks very nice under direct sunlight when clean, almost showing different color. But IRL its very dark compared to configurator and looks like black when its either evening or night. If you live in place where it snows few months a year and they 'salt' the roads its gonna look horrible with the whitish stains. Same applies for the green color on the 4 series, looks way brighter in configurator, but same issues as Dravit.

I had originally ordered tanzanite blue as it looked incredible in the showroom and my partner fell in love with it. But then I saw a few on the road and knew it would mean i'd be washing the car every week (which I actually don't mind TBH). When I told my partner that, she told me to pick a different colour - hence changed to skyscraper grey. Hopefully will be worth the change.

SSG…definitely!

It’s beautiful in all lighting conditions and is always a very nice gray. Hides dust and road dirt really well. In the first pic it’s very dusty, but still really shines.

To me BG looks good in certain lighting, but can come off as light blue which I’m not personally a fan of.

Yeah SSG it is looking like for me. Thanks.
You are right about BG being slightly baby blueish.

I had a Dravit X5M and it looked amazing in the sun when clean. That was the issue....you don't get that "pop" unless it's clean and I would already have a film of dust literally driving 1-2 miles after it was clean. In the winter? Forget it.

I regretted that color almost immediately....as mentioned, the upkeep is basically the same as black.

I'm guessing you haven't owned many dark coloured cars then. Black looks dirty 30 seconds after washing it and shows every little scratch and mark.
I currently have a dark grey, a white and a red car. Red car hides it the best, though it gets driven the least and is washed after every drive, but the white is FAR better at hiding dirt than the grey car. There merest water on the road and the grey car looks dirty.
