Exactly. I love the marketing & amount of wordsmiths involved in promoting a money grab product. They know a few people will buy into the hype & want to be the one of the first people on the block to add this to their M2. But the sound isn't a $12k improvement in sound. The title of this thread was "Unleashing the Power"... but it should've been called "Unleashing the (very minimal improvement of) Sound" for a VERY high fee...

All right, so we’ve established the exhaust is too much money. What’s the proper amount to spend on a slip on? Mid pipe? Headers? Didn’t we applaud someone here dropping $10k for wheels?
I’m new so I’d really appreciate a clear guide.

If you’ve got the money and just itching to spend it on something…go for it. It’s your money. I don’t think there’s a clear guideline that can be given by anyone. Many would spend it on something else first, I would presume, especially if you’re after performance over superficial things like sounds and octagonal shaped carbon pcs. Things that would improve upon what BMW provides on the stock model.

My bike has a Ti Akra and as much as it is bling to see, it didn’t really add that much in terms of usable performance for me. On hindsight, for the price, I should have gone for a suspension upgrade instead.

Forged wheels made out of single slabs of aluminum that need to be pressed by 10 ton presses 4 times (full set of wheels) is very different from buying titanium tubes and bending them a certain way.

The difference is that $10k wheels is very different from $10k exhaust, IMO. It takes true manufacturing excellence to produce wheels worth $10k vs. Pipes and a box.

A bad wheel on a car can kill a family (which is why there are standards and ratings for wheels) a bad exhaust just sounds bad.

BBS and OZ forged wheels to fit the M2 are typically in the USD$5K to $7K range, no need to spend $10K or more for quality aftermarket forged wheels.

Yeah I’m looking VT at 800 per. My only point is folks questioning how other folks spend their mod dollars is fun (A bad wheel on a car can kill a family) but not great.

I'm not sure what convicing you need. Materials, manufacturing process, design, QA, certs for safety etc. all cost more money than taking pipes bending them and attaching a logo on it.

Carbon/magnesium wheels are another step up. Wheels and tires are the only things connect a 3,000 - 6,000 pound car to the road. You don't even need an exhaust for a car to run.

But I guess it's just a matter of perspective? I'd 100% pay $10k for the best wheels in production vs. $10k Titanium pipes. But to each their own.

Also, I'm not questioning anyone's choice. People spend way more money on dumber shit. You brought up the comparison between wheels and pipes lol.

I do not feel that is the point of them making these comments, I don't think they care about how or what people spend their money on... I think its more the fact that someone is trying to sell a product for a crazy amount for such a little improvement while selling it as "unleashing the power". Kinda goes along the lines "unleash the writing" Get this high quality pencil custom sharpened! $175!

Again maybe I'm reading too much into peoples comments but this was what I was taking away from them. Also with enough feed back maybe companies will take that in consideration and update their prices, or not who knows.

RAYS TE37 wheels are certified to JWL standards with it seems a 750kg load rating (JWL standards certify all sizes to the same load rating).

The stock M2 cast wheels have a lower strength to weight ratio, but are certified to the more exacting TUV standards (every size has to be tested) with a load rating of 815kg.

Both will be fine on an M2.

Lmao... any forged wheel is going to be totally fine. Because a US based company charges $10k for $1k of materials doesn't mean shit about quality. Almost every US-based wheel certification program is a total scam and is 'self-certified'. Kind of like 'sustainable' fish. It's all a marketing scheme and means nothing. A block of aluminum is a block of aluminum. JWL is more rigorous but at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter.

Similarly, titanium is titanium. Welds are not all the same, however. Regardless, this exhaust is obnoxiously overpriced.
