I wonder how the back seat room compares to the previous generation. Does anyone have any insight into that? It seems that the consensus amongst reviewers is that its tight back there, but is it better than the outgoing generation?

one reviewer said legroom and headroom are reduced from previous generation.

Yes you are reading that right. Guess how much is the M440i xDrive GC over here? Wrong.... Slightly over usd$290,000. That's why I only have old bangers and once in a while fantasize with the idea of buying cars overseas.

"And even with xDrive equipped, a committed push into a corner with an added dab of power allowed the rear end to rotate around after initially pushing wide before the all-wheel-drive system hooked up to propel us out towards the next corner."

There will be a RWD 240 launching eventually correct? I think I had read somewhere that at launch the 2er would have a 230i and 240xi, but that after a few months the 230xi and 240i would enter the portfolio?

However, it looks like that one will be mated to the new instrument cluster from day 1, so you don't get to choose for the RWD version.

So it's wider by 2.5 in and longer by 3.5 in. What is it about car companies that have to make each new generation of their cars bigger? If I wanted a bigger car, I'd get a 4 series. So now what? Is BMW going to bring back a 1 series for those of us who want a smaller car?

Millimetres in difference, but slightly more headroom and slightly less legroom when comparing dimensions.

Having my M240i order and trading it towards the M2 when it comes has the potential to get me up in the list for it. Hope that helps or explains my logic!
That makes perfect sense. I guess since I may not be going for a launch car (M2) and have purchased other cars from the same dealer already I never really gave it a 2nd thought.

I've watched 7-8 videos last 2 days.. the M240i is quick as heck and getting rave reviews with one exception...

at least 1/2 of reviewers have mentioned the steering at high speeds feels a little light and lacks solid feel. And few on cramped back seat (who cares)

and interesting a few folks have liked the 230i as much as M240i due to the lighter load and RWD. I had a 2018 230i and loved it, but was missing the raw power & torque of the M240i. But is a good alternative at $8k less comparably equipped w/M Sports, Premium Pkg and 19" wheel option

I know it's beating a dead horse, and we knew this would be the case, but I'm really bummed there is no 6MT option.

It sounds like this is precisely the car I would want.

X100, especially since I'm expecting a huge price bump for the next M2.

Exactly…I love my OG. But the thought of a potentially $15k+ price bump for the G87 makes it tough to justify given how awesome my car is.

I can assure you it's the M240i you want. The power delta is massive.

The reviewers should shower even more praise on this car than they have. It's a substantial upgrade over the F22 M240i. I think someone coming out of the old car after having lived with the F22 for a while will better appreciate the difference.
