In all the f series seat swap guides I've read, it seems that folks aren't connecting up the f occupancy mat sensor; they just code it out (or use an emulator). I would like to retain this safety functionality if possible and not code it out.

On my new f series seats, the occupancy sensor is a black block with 3 wires:
-red
-white
-brown

Looking at my e92 wiring and referencing the e9x pin out diagram (see attached), the occupancy sensor is also controlled by exactly 3 wires, which are on the main block:
-pin10 (blue/purple)
-pin11 (red/white)
-pin12 (brown)

The problem is that the wire colors don't match. But my hypothesis is that the f series occupancy mat should work, if I pin the wires into pin 10-12 correctly. The brown wire is easy (goes right back in pin12). But I'm debating whether I should:
1) put f series red into pin11 (which has red/whit wire on e92)
2) put f series red into pin10 (which has blue/purple wire on e92)

Has anyone done this successfully? Or do you have any instincts on which configuration is more likely to work?

I'm not sure if that is the smartest idea, but what I would do, is just try it both ways?
Being an occupancy sensor, connecting the wires wrong way around should not trigger any airbags or dangerous stuff like that. Whatever errors it should throw, can surely be deleted afterwards.
So I'd say just test and see if it will start working as it should

Welp, I tested it out last night with the following config:
pin 10: white (previously blue/purple)
pin 11: red (previously red/white)
pin 12: brown (previously brown)

I still got an occupancy sensor error, so it didn't work. But it also didn't blow anything up. I ended up just coding out the passenger occupancy function, along with the active head restraints and position sensor. Bimmergeeks ProTool made this all a breeze, and I had it done in under 10 minutes.

Everything else functioned perfectly and the seat looks/feels great!

I have two F series seats waiting. But I'm dreading the whole wiring thing.

I didn't have heated seats before, but the m2 seats are heated. I've already installed the new HVAC controller with heat controls, but haven't updated the VO coding yet since I don't have the driver seat installed yet. I'm planning to get that done this weekend, so then I'll know if the heating works. I'm fairly confident it will.

I'm also planning to do a thorough write-up of my whole process, which could make your life a bit easier. I have an LCI E92. What's your ride?

Thanks you for the reply. Mine is LCI E90, but it shouldn't differ much.
It would be much appreciated if you do a write-up on the install.

I recently did a headliner swap to install the black one, and it took me several hours of being careful trying not damage something. And that was just clips and trim pieces. But wiring is something else.

I did almost give up halfway through because of my uncertainty 😂. But with a clear DIY to work from (not a haphazard 20 page thread and multiple random YouTube vids), I think you’ll find it’s not that bad of a project. You should be fine.

My goal is to do the driver seat install tomorrow afternoon and hopefully the write up right after that while everything is fresh on my mind.
