18X8-18X8.5 is what most would use with tires of 225/40R18 or 235/40R18. Offsets vary quite a bit but are normally in the neighborhood of 30mm-40mm.

Related question for Gary: I want to run a set of the 17" kosei K4r's potentially in the 8.5" width as a square setup with a 255 width R-S3 or Dunlop Sar Spec tire. I know the rear will be fine, since it's close to stock. But the front looks like with an 8.5" at that offset (40) will have 12mm or so less space between the suspension and wheel than stock. Will that rub? Or would you recommend 245's or 235's all around? I want to go as wide as possible for the grip.

I've been running the square setup for over 6 months with no problem. My wheels are OEM 193M rear wheels, 18x8.5 37mm offset, and tires are Yokohama AD08 255/35/18.

We recommend an 18x8.5 ET35-ET40 with a 225-235 tire.

The OP asked about a square setup, meaning the same size front and rear.
